All have some black humor except for the table of payments that each state’s hospitals get for treating Covid patients. There is no humor here of any color. The question is why are the states so wildly different in payment amounts & WHY do they get extra payments at all? The WHY is probably rhetorical.
I really wonder if NYC really gets paid THAT low per COVID patient. It would seem that they would get a higher payout per patient lost than most of the other states.
The piece notes that this was not a per-patient/case payment, but rather a grant doled out to each state based upon "historical share of Medicare revenue", so it takes that number and divides by the number of COVID cases reported at the time. Honestly, it appears more as a sensational piece.
Also, anyone have intel on where those numbers came from? I find them believable but they mean nothing without source. In case anyone has this can you please email me at ALlifestylemed@protonmail.com? Thank you!
The article that taxpayer posted leads you on the breadcrumb trail to Kaiser Health News, which notes that the authors used the amounts reported to the House Ways and Means Committee by HHS of the first $30 Billion out of $100 Billion targeted for hospitals in the CARES Act. The authors then used the current (as of early April 2020) COVID-19 case count from the New York Times. According to HHS, they simply used the Medicare model for the first round as a simplified way to get "something to everyone" with the intention of hospitals applying for need-based funding to dole out the remaining $70 Billion. I didn't go digging for the source files but you should be able to with a bit more sleuthing.
After reading the KHN article, it reinforces my notion that the whole thing was to create a sense of disparity and pressure the government to dole out more funds to the Congressional districts screaming the loudest. Bear in mind that this article and chart came out at a time when the media was awash in horror stories, images of blood and bodies in the ER hallways, people collapsing in streets, and healthcare workers sobbing into the camera for FB and Instagram videos. Despite all of the angst and hand-wringing, I'm fairly certain that most hospitals made out like fat cats throughout this ordeal.
You are absolutely right. I sent an email to the CEO and CMO (a physician) of the hospital where I worked informing them (as if they didn't already know, which they absolutely did, but I wanted to give them one last chance to display some integrity) informing them that the protocols and studies they were profiting from were violating several tenets of the Nuremberg Code. The response of both? Crickets. They are making so much money, apparently that is what enables them to sleep at night? Must be nice to have no conscience whatsoever.
Been and gone here. What sort of tricking would you do in 2022 anyway? Tell someone that they were required to get a booster? A flu shot? A jab for their baldness?
“The arms manufacturers will continue to make sure that we go to war” is exactly right! It sure seems to me that Biden wants this war. And I think I know why:
We used to live in Winchester. . . rarely saw snow at all. 1/2" snow caused a run on bread and milk in the stores! In 1982(?) we had a 32"(?) snowfall and I could not get home from work 20 miles away in W. Va. Had to stay overnight at strangers home-- nice people in that area. First time I ever sampled moonshine!
Great ones. However, we need one more image . . . the one showing a view from the top entry looking down into the outhouse==> no platform or seat up there. Entry allows direct drop into the honey-hole!
Finallly! Someone made a chart of the $$ paid to hospitals for EACH covid positive patient by state. I saw this article in 2020 in a Hospital CFO magazine but was not able to relocate it afterwards. It was amazing that no one talked about this during the last 20 months. So glad Dr Malone posted this.
We are thrilled with Your Funnies Dr. Malone!

I would love to get the source on that ?
Looks like it's data from April 2020, published at https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/finance/state-by-state-breakdown-of-federal-aid-per-covid-19-case.html The original source cited is Kaiser Health News.
Thank you so much!
Some people charge higher bribery rates than others . . . .

That's why Cuomo's goal was *quantity*.

Thanks for that clarification!

Unfortunately these Friday funnies are just all TOO TRUE!
Especially the outhouse funny...
Some are brilliant, what talent to say so much with so few words. Simple truth at its best! :~)
2020-2022 Fools years
I believe all of it!
April fools!
I think this week it's Friday facts W/funnies.
Biden is the April fool.
Been and gone here. What sort of tricking would you do in 2022 anyway? Tell someone that they were required to get a booster? A flu shot? A jab for their baldness?

https://jeffcuttler.substack.com/p/biden-wants-this-war?s=w
More like Lockheed-Martin, Boeing Defense, etc. want this war.
You should have seen how quickly and how high Boeing job and internship postings rocketed in its Defense area after Biden was “elected.”
Sadly…. Keeps eyes Off scandals, increase border entry and domestic issues….. well except crack pipe distribution. .
It's snowing over here in France and that is NOT an April Fools !
so what's new, we still have snow on the ground here in MINNESOTA. The Elk River just had ice out last week.
Edit April 14th: It snowed all day, 30 mph winds, horizontal snow. No accumulation! Outside cutting tall Oaks in the woods all day.
Our good Doctor is in Paris. Its not snowing at his farm in Virginia.
