I’ve missed a few weeks posting on Sunday Strip I hope this may bring me and us all a bit of redemption 😇.

There are millions of us that go through life filled with guilt for things we may have done in the past. Sins we may have committed that we hold on to, even though we have asked God for forgiveness.

In the old testament the only way you could have forgiveness for sin was to sacrifice an animal. Without the shedding of blood there was no remission for sin. Every year the high priest would go into the most sacred place in the temple, he would offer a sacrifice for his sins and the sins of the people. It was called the day of atonement. If the sacrifice was acceptable their sins would not be taken away they would be covered, they were good for another year.

This was an ongoing process. The priest had to make sure everything was perfect, that the animal didn’t have spots or blemishes, that it was the right age. All of these requirements; if they didn’t meet the requirements the sacrifice wouldn’t be acceptable. They wouldn’t have Gods blessing. This was the constant pressure they lived under. Is our sin going to be forgiven for this year? Is the sacrifice good enough?

The blood of animals only gave them temporary forgiveness. God demonstrated through the event on Mount Moriah (Genesis 22), by stopping Abraham from sacrificing Isaac and providing a ram as a substitute, God foreshadowed that human sacrifice was wrong and that He would ultimately provide a substitute sacrifice—Jesus—to replace the temporary animal system. God was saying it was fine for a time but I’m going to make a new covenant to permanently take care of sin. The problem is it couldn’t happen with the blood of bulls and goats. That wasn’t good enough, it was going to take a special kind of sacrifice.

One day John the Baptist was out ministering, he saw Jesus coming and he said “look the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world”. John knew that Jesus was the sacrifice that God told Abraham about. Jesus was Gods lamb. When He died on the cross and shed His blood it says in Hebrews “He went once and for all into the Holy of Holy’s, not with the blood of bulls and goats, but with His own blood to secure a complete redemption for us all”. One translation says an everlasting release from our sins. This was the power of His Blood.

His Blood put an end to the old system of sacrificing again and again, hoping that we would be forgiven. Now we can live with the confidence that all of our sins past, presence and future have not just been covered, not just been temporarily atoned for, they have been washed away, we have an everlasting release.

When Jesus hung on the cross, suspended between heaven and earth, He took all of our mistakes, all of our failures and weaknesses, all of the times we had blown it, and the times we ever will blow it, and He forgave us. The good news is not that God will forgive you, the good news is He has already forgiven you.

Now this sacrifice won’t do you any good if you do not receive it. If you go around guilty condemned trying to pay God back for your mistakes you are disrespecting Gods sacrifice, understand the price has already been paid. Receive His mercy, receive His love. Everyday, we should say, Father thank You that I am forgiven, thank You that I am redeemed, thank You for Your sacrifice. We shouldn’t go around every day with a heaviness, with no passion for life. Do we really think our mistakes were too much for the blood that Christ shed? Do you think God says I didn’t see that one coming, I should have sent a better sacrifice. Those days are gone, you’ve been redeemed, you’ve been redeemed by the Son of the living God. No mistake you’ve made is to much for the Son of Gods Blood.

The Gospel, or Good News, is the greatest love story ever told (John 15:13). What could be more excellent news than eternal life in Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him (John 3:16-17).

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Thank you James. The sacrifices were a picture of the coming Messiah, and if you take that picture along with the over 300 prophecies about him, Jesus is the ONLY one who fulfills that picture.

His sacrifice was made ONCE, because the shedding of His blood was sufficient for ALL sin; therefore, He said on the cross, “It is finished.”

Our sinful nature drives us to guilt and shame and the false thought that surely “ONCE” was only good for yesterday, and not today or tomorrow, so he needs to be sacrificed every day, again and again for my sin and the sin of the world—making God’s statement of “ONCE” and for all, null and void.

Jesus sits at the right hand of the father, because His work was completed on the cross, and the proof is the resurrection. In this we can have confidence that as bad as my or our sin is, Jesus’ sacrifice paid it all: Past, Present, and Future—Rock solid foundation. It was His work not ours that saves us from our sins, and nothing can be added to that. 🤗

Happy Sunday!!

Good morning! Thank you for your gift of Scripture. No longer am I driving and, thus, miss regular attendance for worship. Your reminder is taken to heart and is exactly what I needed for "the peace that passes all understanding." Rath De Ort.

Thank you for the history of sacrifice, and then with Jesus's sacrifice, He did it ALL for us. it is hard to believe sometime and people, even priests can make a person feel you haven't personally sacrificed enough or correctly, yet it is all about His sacrifice, not ours. i thank you for reminding me of that this morning. I love John 3:16-7, 15:13 and there is John 6:28-29 "Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires? Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” I will add as a good-ish Catholic, Good works, Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy do help us know and have relationship with Christ grow in belief and faith, and help support the Kingdom. Seeing Christ in the poor, sick, hungry, stranger, etc Matthew 25:31-46

Thank you James, for retelling a story of God’s greatest gift of eternal life for anyone seeing this truth. I have never felt any doubt about God’s ability to forgive. If God can’t do it, it can’t be done, all things are possible with Him. I haven’t yet found a way to truly assimilate the knowledge of what Christ was willing to endure, for forgiveness of sins, including my own, so that people can experience life everlasting in paradise, and simultaneously not feel the stabbing pain in my heart and the sorrow for my role in making it necessary. I long to be in that crowd of people shouting and rejoicing, and maybe playing a tambourine loudly, while rejoicing in thankfulness at what Christ has done for all of us. Bearing responsibility for Gods suffering, leaves no room for me to experience joy. The very name of Jesus, elicits sadness and guilt, and thankfulness and awe, always tears. Maybe they are the frequently referenced, tears of joy, but they don’t feel like it.

Lord be with you. :) as well. thanks.. I had a great pastor who shared the Gospel every SUNDAY and had a call to the alter, Presbyterian.. he died a long time ago.. never found anyone like him.. Graham Smith. and his wife Maggie.. both I think were from Ireland or Scotland originally. I can still hear him saying "a fortnight from now" (two weeks) we will have the Church picnic.. I learned what that meant Celtic. words meant. He went to King's college and was a biblical scholar.. and for me a mentor in many ways and part of the Evangelical Presbyterian community back in the day :)

Thanks Father James.. . well, I went to church today but missed part of the sermon. I was not really "there", actually. . .

But, I am really HERE. You brought it home James.

Have a great Sunday.

Thank you for a true tears-in-my-eyes laugh! I found the comparison between the Obama presidential center and a garbage can to be hilariously accurate. What a perfect representation of his presidency!

Humor is always a great start to the week. Thanks for making it so! Blessings.

I wonder if the designer of that structure may have known exactly what he was doing.

oldguy52's avatar

Even more than that, it makes me wonder what kind of mind, smart enough to make the huge amount of money it took to design and build this monstrosity, would donate said money willingly to it's creation.

Thank you! Had to come to the comments to ID the building. 🤣

Jane Tracy's avatar

Now knowing what it is, it totally makes sense 😂

Tom Daniel's avatar

That "structure" ( WHO would call it ARCHITECTURE ) - looks absolutely EVIL, ALIEN, Forbidding EYESORE! - and target for a BUNKER-BUSTER!

beccar1954's avatar

So that’s what that ugly building is. Very fitting.

Joy Metcalf's avatar

Ah! Thank you. I had no idea what that building was or the significance of the memes.

The vainglory of the recent Presidential Centers is astonishing, and Obama has outdone them all, since it's privately owned and operated. And particularly ugly, at that.

Yes, but…

6:30AM came an hour earlier today (a pox of a thousand insomniac cocks on those who continue to foist this biannual insanity upon the suffering masses; x1000 on those who thought it a good idea to begin with) but the palace panthers heard the alarm - and possible soto voce cursing, and cared not a whit about anything other than my access to the can opener.

The one about wearing shorts in winter is true.

15 miles in the back woods while trail grooming one 10 degree night, I had 12 snowmobiles pass me and the last one had a guy with shorts on.

I can't imagine how much liquor that must have involved.

Patricia's avatar

The same applies to Colorado Natives: you can spot them a mile away, wearing shorts, flip-flops, & Tee-shirts! My Son for one; now, my grand daughters (7 & 4), walk outside barefoot, in the snow, because they don’t take time to put their boots on! :)

Add Minnesota in the spring, when it gets in the 20's out, feels like summer after -20's

Patricia's avatar

Absolutely- that was a great feeling when we had arctic cold last month in February, as the temps rose after the cold blast moved east, it felt like a “tropical heat wave”: temps during the day in the teens; next day, twenty degrees did feel like summer!

Patricia's avatar

Thank you James, Amen...

The one about the Pacific NW is less true - best to factor in multi-stocked game hunters, outdoorsmen and hikers who carry, strong long-distance runners and well muscled farmers/ranchers with versatile big machines at the ready...

Woke up this morning feeling down and depressed. I’m 2 weeks post op from a broken leg/knee, non weight bearing, mostly bed ridden. Super tough when you have a horses, sheep, chickens, dogs and cats and have to rely on others. Thanks for my first laugh of the day. I love the Lunchable one and the Linked In ones are my favorite too.

Dr. Robert W. Malone's avatar

Yuck! Sorry about that. Big accidents suck, particularly when animal chores are involved.

Hopes that your recovery goes well. Be sure to watch the dog walking video to remind you to be careful while you are healing.

I wish you speedy recovery and that your animals forgive you!

BTW, LINKED-IN Founder - Reid Hoffman - is a "CFR" member.

Tom Daniel's avatar

A so-called "NON-Governmental Organization" - that began in 1921 - that for generations - including NOW - has its members "embedded" in EVERY U.S. federal government agency, bureau and department, including the POTUS & SCOTUS.

Members include BOTH Democrats and Republicans - is currently made up of just 5000 members out of the 330 million or so population. The "CFR" has for its entire (generational) existence, controlled and DOMINATED U.S. Foreign policy AND DOMESTIC policy - and in MANY instances, really FOULED things UP! ...like converting the U.S. from an industrial economy into a "SERVICE" economy - resulting in the loss of millions of jobs and the RUST-BELT that has devastated the heartland of the USA!

LOL!!! Leashed, Top Dogs take first place! Hilarious to watch the video of folks being “taken for walks” by their beloved Dogs! I enjoyed it, & yes, laughed- but, I always wondered about tiny, small people that get Great Danes, or large dogs, & wondered how many times did “Pooch” take their human down! Thank you for a good laugh! No comment for Obama’s huge trash-can-library…! I’m tired of him & his rude comments, as well as his partner.

The dogs video…..

Been there

Done that

Got the (muddy) tee shirt

Joy Metcalf's avatar

Exactly why I spend hours on dog training. If my dogs can't walk with me off leash, I have work to do.

GMoody's avatar

I had 2 boxers that I could walk off leash in the neighborhood. People walking their dogs on leash would ask how did I accomplish that. First, I established myself as an alpha dog! Next lots of training to obey voice words and tone, plus hand commands. They would sit if any cars were approaching long before they were in sight, they could hear a car coming. I was most impressed when a herd of dear crossed in front of us once and they stood with me and didn’t take chase. That was awesome to watch.

SR Miller's avatar

{sigh} just about the only thing I miss about dawgs - ability to train.

6 years in and getting them to "Sit! {pretty please?} has been the major accomplishment. Getting them to flush and put the seat down has been much less successful

lol, great reply

Can someone tell me why we still have DST? It takes me a month to reset my circadian rhythm

😂😂😂!! Loved the “walking the dog”video!! Also, it’s amazing how much Obama’s library resembles a trash can. So appropriate because many of his policies were trash. My husband loved the safety rule about flip flops, as the car was propped on 4x4s. What could go wrong? Thanks for the laughs, Malone’s. 💕

Amen! And thanks for the great humor. Memes on our male female traits are hilarious as much as stereotypes of cultures! I was expecting, given the source you’d show, something at the end to legitimize men are still the ones we rely on many who provide us with brilliant think tanks to solve humanity’s questions. The likes of Dr. Malone and teams with RFK in the same room. 😃
