The Founding Fathers risked their lives, fortunes, and honor because they had a dream: That one day this land would become a safe haven for socialists, grievance hustlers, transgenders, child & narcotics traffickers, and imported grifters. A land where people by the tens of millions would break our laws to set foot on our soil; to reside here in the world's hotel; so they could accuse us of oppressing them. A land safe for multi-billion dollar frauds and Learing Centers scattered throughout. It was an ambitious dream, but one that has largely become reality. It's inspirational.
Yes James, and a lot of the credit goes to the educrats and their unions who won the war against the American child. Well indoctrinated in their Marx and Nietzsche, we are now seeing the fruit of their labors in the rising tide of imported and home-grown malcontents, promising the world while being vague on the details. With no historical perspective, this nation is in grave danger. “A republic, if you can keep it” has now been expropriated to “Saving our democracy.” Demos was always the cancer to be avoided. Now it is the elixir for what ails us, by those who want to stack the Supreme Court and eliminate the Electoral College. Perilous times, my friend; another critical election draws near.
I hear you James Lord. My emotions are leaning to the down side today and I don't know how to control that. The juxtapostion of the 250th birthday with a nation carousing, wearing red/white/blue, toasting heritage, singing with passion, partying with gusto, parading, etc. and now back to what!?
That settles it; I'm going for it. Enough whining to myself about my solitary nature and my lack of social skills; there's big money to be made here. I've been holding a couple of items in my Amazon cart: Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People," and a product called Charisma in a Bottle. It's time to go ahead and place the order. As of now, targeting late summer for a press conference to announce my candidacy for... something federal, with state office as a fallback if I fail to garner enough media attention..
I knew there was a reason the politicians never want term limits. But, I never realized just exactly why until reading this very well researched substack article.
It made me sick to my stomach and my head hurt. Thank you!
I had no idea about the personal expenditures being allowed by a leadership PAC. No wonder these people never want to leave. We need to get DataRepublican on this. You already exposed Thune. I hope that finds a way to go viral.
Bob oh boy did I need to read this today! I am very careful about donating to political requests and PACs but received a new solicitation today that I almost fell for. Upon researching what it was and then reading this post, I decided it was a scam. Wonder how many folks are reeled in by these fishermen? Thanks for this timely post, Drs Malone! I am SO TIRED of all these solicitations!!!
Thank you for this exhaustive and enlightening essay!
Personally have always been suspicious of solicitations premised on distributions to candidates. That starts with the possibility of funds being distributed to candidates I don't favor.
As an aside recently discovered a charge of $50 (which it turns out would be recurring) to a Republcation PAC in Arlington. I notified the CC vender it was fraud. They removed the donation and are investigating it. I'm watching for any further charges.
I can only afford very limited participation. I did donate to Trump's primary fund. In view of the Democrat's evilly conceived lawfare, I personally have no objection to my donation going for legal purposes. To me its a needed and just cause.
Finally, I've always made practically all donations to individual candidates. They have provided basis to be seen as legitimate candidates. I'm none the less besieged with 50+ solitatons a day, many unsavory with threats to a receipt of various proposed rebates - $2000 to $6000 - I'll miss out on if I don't pony up.
Lastly, might a required notice to every donor, to be acknowledged, with the partculars you've noted here, be demanded?
What are the ways forward to stop this grift? Your essay is surely one, but more is clearly needed.
Because I did run for local office this report is, sadly, accurate. I funded my own campaign because the locals knew they already had someone in office that they could easily buy.
Hopefully your readers will forward this to all who think they can run and win. Do new people happen? Sure… far too infrequently! I spent $50k to lose Every precinct by an amazing 60/40 count. Election fraud? Rampant!
I am starting to recognize a new form of AI prose in many substacks, this particular one included. It has a rhythm that makes me vocalize the texts of short sentences, which is annoying. Maybe this comes from listening to too many Youtube AI generated informational videos. Who knows but I guess this is the future. "This is more than regulatory failure. It is regulatory design. A referee who cannot blow the whistle is not a bug in the system. He is one of its features." ps: Our political system is disgusting.
"The only people with the authority to close the loophole are the people who benefit from it." Yep, just like term limits. Of course, the FEC are political appointees, so there's that, too.
And then there are those who go to Congress and become multimillionaires--on a congressional salary. Insider trading, anyone? Political kickbacks, maybe? Nah!
Altogether, a very depressing read. I only wish I could say it was surprising.
I was happy going into this report but had to stop after the introduction. Your reporting is always exceptional so I can only imagine what you discovered that needs a thorough airing. But … My blood does not need to boil today. I’ll save that for tomorrow morning when I am fresh and especially strong. But not today. xox
Dr. Malone thank you for analyzing this issue so thoroughly. Unfortunately it is an indictment of the average citizen and their blind faith in politicos and those who claim to be "doing good". While it may be true that not all are corrupt you can be certain that many if not most are and it is best to presume the worst, put on your critical thinking cap and do the research and work required to ferret out for yourself whether you should be giving to a person or cause. (maybe AI could prove useful in this regard if properly prompted and challenged). My approach was much simpler. I don't give to political activities, candidates or PAC's.... it is far too corrupt and griftee. My giving is restricted to the local where I can see, smell and observe the work my giving does. You should all know that your local communities are in desperate need of monies to support the many people of all walks of life around you.
What's that sound I hear?
Tis the Founding Fathers turning over in their collective graves, "We risked our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor for this?"

Better to bemoan than to be dug up and one's bones hung in effigy by the likes of Ta-Nehisi Coates and Nikole Hannah-Jones.
This is some serious investigative reporting. I wish it could be more widely made public.
that's why I never even donate money to Politics
There was a time I never donated. I have begun to reduce the amount recently. Too many emails.
Thanks for the info.

But if the PACs can persist even after death, why not after leaving office?
Oh my....so who has been forever taking the general public on a Magic Carpet Ride.
But we are tasked to please remain seated and blindfolded.
An reassured we will be landing again shortly,
you can remove the knives from your back upon debarking.

Egad.

Politics, the ultimate money making/laundering scheme.
