To the Malones and the farm animals - "Congratulations" on the new arrival 🎈✨️ 🐎. You've so generously included your readership in the life of your farm animals, I almost feel like a proud 'Auntie' here. The Foal is beautiful, as is your love and care for these magnificent creatures. This made my day.

How could anybody not accept Emu into their herd?

Thank you for the sweet story and videos of the birth of your foal. My 8 year old granddaughter and 7 year old grandson have been following your farm stories with great interest. A couple of weeks ago, they asked if you had posted another video of your farm on Fallout on the Epoch Times, and were quite disappointed when I told them, "Not yet!" Videos of your emu and goose are among their favorites. :D

Thank you for this beautiful story, photos, and videos. What a precious Christmas gift indeed.

Here is an appropriate musical offering for Velocity and Quieta from Mr. G.F. Handel: https://youtu.be/MS3vpAWW2Zc?si=B8Yi5sJKw9lUGOht

Lyrics:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

– Isaiah 9:6

(One could modify the lyrics for an independent-thinking horsy, but Mr. Handel’s setting is magnificent enough.)

We once let out our field to a friend in need with a horse. Saw a birth up close and personal. Something to behold. I suppose if we didn't put such wonders in a box -- along with all the other wonders of creation -- we'd never get anything done. What a wonderful Christmas gift: a new birth to go along with the birth of Christ and the rebirth of hope. And if that weren't enough wonder, born of a virgin! Ok, I need to go get something done now. Blessings.

I'm sure you've mentioned but what breed are your horses? I was thinking one of the South American breeds known for smooth gaits. Love the curly ears on that baby. What a lovely story of the Aunties observing and welcoming the new baby into the herd.

I've also dealt with retained placentas and it is so fraught with danger. I am sure a cheer went up when she finally passed it.
