“Pet” bird owners, including backyard chickens, ducks, emus, parakeets, parrots, finches, racing pigeons, doves, turkeys, etc., in Scotland, Ireland, and England must register all of their birds once a year or face stiff fines of over USD 5,000.00 and even risk six months in prison. Even a single chicken or parakeet must be registered - you know, to keep everybody safe. This is even though the BBC recently reported that there have been zero cases of avian flu among “captive birds” anywhere in the UK.
