Been in the works a longtime. We noticed back in the 50-60s that the father image, was slowly being denigrated in t.v. comedies

Yes and it appeared on my radar in the early 70s when the women mags were encouraging young moms to BE ALL THEY CAN BE! Based on the Betty Friedan book Feminine Mystique. Nowadays I see the theme embedded in TV and movies where the independent woman is the hero and can beat up any man. Then the other subtle theme is when the main male character meets a woman and they fall in love and then she gets a job offer - far away. She always chooses the job over relationship. Every time. And the male character is sad but understanding because, you know, the JOB and opportunity is what matters.

Yes, quite true. Today's TV ads never miss an attempt to show a white(specially) man as either dump looking or eliciting stupid narratives; ads now predominantly utilize women over men; foreign speakers, non-whites as main actors. If WHITE men are utilized they are made to act as non-essential, stupid and not practical while a woman is shown to regard him as foolish and knows SO much better . . .

I do not watch ads, Fast forward or watch something else. I OWN the clicker!

EXCERPT: Perhaps a significant portion of what we are calling a mental-health crisis is actually a CRISIS OF MEANING, belonging and human connection.

Very timely article. By denying the obvious differences between men and women is to deny what we see and have always seen throughout our lives. My mother was the obvious nurturer and my father was the person that showed us the cold reality of life. They both were needed in raising us and they both played critical roles in the raising of 4 kids. It wasn’t perfect and I’m sure they learned as they went. But they did their best and in my opinion they did a great job, they loved us kids and there is no substitution for that.

We all took what they gave us and lived our lives with successes and failures as we all have. We weren’t the richest family, we weren’t the family with the least amount of problems, but we were the luckiest kids to have two parents that loved their kids and wanted the best for them. I was the luckiest kid in my neighborhood.

I chose to ignore the elephant in the room - and take it out of the context of the recent trial. But of course, it is all about that trial and more specifically the women activists "protesting" before a verdict was reached. BTW- that should have been exclusionary for the jury. How could they not be influenced? JGM

VictorDianne Watson's avatar

The horrible tragedy of the death of these 3 children is devastating I can’t even watch anything concerning the trial it’s so demoralizing. These liberal women protesting at the trial are terrible creatures who should not be there. But we see them everywhere.

I appreciate you writing this. I had avoided the case because it was horrific I didn’t want it to enter my mind. It became impossible to not listen and try to understand. Thanks for your important essay!

I had the same response as you did. Did not want to think about it. Only last night did I get much understanding of what was going on as The Five reviewed the details of the mistrial.

If I understood correctly? 11 out of 12 people in this Massachussets jury wanted to let her off. One GUY was the hold out.

Not looking to offend any one, but my vote is with him.

"hey, you kill your kids and I don't care what 'state of mind' you were 'in', whether you meet the standards for insanity or not, or live in 'which' state, you go to the GALLOWS!"

Society to remain a civil one must have consequences so those YET to commit a crime will see them-- as much as to remove this potential killer from civil society.

The joke of it all was that confinement to a hospital for the criminally insane for life wasn't even on the table because the states have closed them all. What happened to the social compact, where we pay taxes to be protected from lunatics like Clancy or the harridan who murdered an innocent mother in Times Square? Maybe a massive tax revolt to hold these morons to account is required. Thank goodness for the one man, who wasn't a cowardly cuck to the feminist Nazis on the jury.

The PPD issue must not die! We need to have a deep and exhaustive discussion in the medical profession on this issue. It is all about nutrition and the fact that the nutritional base of humans is being compromised across the globe. Prevention magazine used to be a source of nutritional information until it was reprogramed by the drug industry.

But you knew it would be in the back of our heads!

Outstanding. Each paragraph could stand on its own as an insightful essay. Two small notes:

“The Big Lie was convincing women (and men) that exchanging dependence upon people who loved them for dependence upon employers, banks, universities, childcare companies, and the consumer economy was somehow independence.”

You left out the biggest dependence of all: Government

Government has taken the place of family structure when it pays for birth, childcare, feeding, education, etc.

Also, re: women’s mental health, it has been greatly (negatively) affected by social media, especially young girls.

Jean's avatar

You hit it here. The Obama folks emphasized woman shouldn't worry, particularly in re babies. Daddy government would step in and help make single motherhood work. Government is still helping (?)isn't it?

Sixty years ago, in my thirties I was fat and lethargic...and my brain wasn't working too well. I had started studying nutrition, but I did not know that the Food Industry was the one who provided its research...and it got me into a lot of trouble. The Standard American Diet was SAD! Today, at 92, I have more energy than i ever had in my teens. It took years to learn how to eat right. It should have been more simple. Mankind lived on natural unprocessed foods for thousands of years, but modern man is into destroying what he eats by cooking everything. There is little value in processed food, except calories. No nutrients to feed the brain!

Boys are being harmed as well. Leonard Sax, MD wrote about it in "Boys Adrift." I am seeing all this in my practice and with my own sons.

It makes sense that libtard women are nuts. When you paint your hair blue and put a ring through your nose you are going to be alone because normal society sees you as a freak. That is going to lead to isolation because nobody is bringing you home to meet Mom and Dad. You won’t be hired at any job that has you dealing with the public as no company wants that as some face of their company. This stuff is simple to see but when these wack jobs find others on the internet who do the sa thing they feel like a community but that community isn’t real. Sure, you can find plenty online who look and act like you do but they probably live hundreds of miles away from you. It’s not real life. When you look lie a whack job in your local town nobody will want anything to do with you and you’ll be stuck inside on your laptop crying and asking why you’re alone. Never once looking in the mirror and seeing the problem. It’s never their reflection that’s the problem it’s everyone else’s. Which then makes them a victim. They can now claim victimhood which gives them their pass to full fledged libtard. They never see themselves as the problem because we are supposed to accept them no matter what they do even when they look like a circus freak. Unfortunately, that’s not how normal society works.

up until the last sentence I was with you.

uuuh no,

" . . . FORTUNATELY, that is not how normal society works!"

I look at the ring through the nose as meaning "easily led". Heavily tattooed is part of this. and definitely limits employability to certain niche jobs.

I so enjoy reading these articles. I like that both husband and wife write. After reading this today I was wondering if you have children. I have two daughters who have taken two very different paths. One has home schooled her 4 very successful children, and is basically a stay at home wife and Mother. The other has three children and has a very demanding successful career. She and her husband center on their children as much as possible, but their children have had a lot more problems when they were younger. The youngest is transgender. The three have been given every advantage as far as travel and things. They are certainly loved. I just wonder if that is going to be enough to sustain them as adults.

A great and insightful article! It made me think back about so many women I know and better understand how and why they react so negatively towards men.

It is tragic that mental health syndromes are growing globally. Root causes have to because of the manipulated food system with trace toxins and poor nutritional intake, combined with the pseudo solutions being psychotropic drugs. Food and Drug are fighting RFK Jr goals which in my view would be reversing the problem if he could accomplish what needs to be done. Early in my life I lost a good friend and it has shaped my views on the issue. What is absent In the public information about the trial is the matter of psychotropic drugs and their impact on mental health. Same scenario is involved in over 95% of the school shootings and there is silence. That is intentional because the mass media runs on about $6 billion dollars of Big Pharma money annually. Postpartum depression is caused by severe nutrient deficiencies, and the medical solution is psychotropic drugs, which screws up the brain even more! In severe cases. The woman either takes her own life or blames her children for her derangement. It is a medical issue and not a criminal issue and can be prevented if the medical profession would agree that it is caused by severe nutritional deficiencies and that it is the lack of good prenatal care that allows it to happen. I lost a dear friend 60 years ago who had four precious babies in four years and had severe postpartum depression and used a 45 to stop the mental derangement . A woman in a town nearby hung herself in the basement rather than to harm her 4 children. It goes both ways, depending on how the mental derangement is expressed. Until physicians are educated about the central role that good nutrition plays to maintain good health this will not end! Yes In the meantime, they will create new drugs to mask the problem. Dr. Breggin listed the massive amounts of psychotropic drugs that were administered to the latest victim. It also has to be recognized the hormonal balance in women are more complex than men. Agree? Why suicide rate in men are 4 times than women needs more exploration. In all cases, we can start by measuring nutrient deficiencies of those involved in these tragic events.

Micheal Nash, Ph. D.'s avatar

Wife, was telling me something she read in a vet news article seemed to be saying they are now using psychotropic drugs (including LSD?) to treat PTSD.

Swabbie Robbie's avatar

Originally they were using LSD to treat normalcy.

There have been books written about the nutritional losses during pregnancy. My mother lost calcium and then her teeth during my gestation. The developing brain and nervous system require many essential nutrients. I don’t think psychiatric meds address this

Young liberal women: they're too young to know much, full of feelings and mental illness and now they're starting to be in charge. God help us.

Thank you. What a wonderful, heartfelt essay to wake up to. I do believe that we are nearing the apex of this poisonous version of feminism. While MSM shines its kleig light on women freezing their eggs, it keeps in the dark all of the families with moms at home, committed to raising healthy, happy children who will one day be the backbone our society. We would be better off by featuring these healthy families and healthy young adults rather than continually celebrating "liberated" disturbed individuals.

I recall a study of testosterone in financial-market traders (male and female). The physician/researchers sampled blood testosterone several times a day. Higher testosterone (generally men) was correlated with greater trading profits. But upon digging deeper into the numbers, the researchers found that higher testosterone was actually correlated more with a greater willingness to take on trading risks; and in the case of this trading firm's strategy during the study, higher risk taking led to greater profits. Sadly, but importantly, this finding may offer insight into why male suicide rates exceed females'.

I think the feminine movement back in the ‘60s really did a disservice to relationships between men and women. While men were being denigrated, women were being portrayed as the stronger, more resilient sex, and men had been oppressing them. It’s true women held down the fort during WWII by working in often male dominated roles. However, men were dying on the battlefield.

I watched the attack on men by women escalating as my sons grew up in the 70s and 80s. Television and movies picked up this theme. Then came the restriction of young white males to certain colleges. I remember a young, white man in California, Allan Bakke, who was denied admission into the University of California-Davis because of affirmative action in the 70s. He sued and won. This type of activity continued, however, and I worried for my sons.

As your article shows, young women became more vocal about being independent and free. They complained about the “double standard”. Unfortunately, all of this has led to unhappiness for both sexes. Divorce rates are high, and broken homes are the norm. What is missing is the relationship that once existed between men and women that was interdependence. Each sex brought unique characteristics and skills to a marriage and they complemented each other. Neither was less important than the other. The depression of women and the suicide rates of men, I agree, are relate to these issues, and society must figure out how to return to a sane world where men and women support and love one another.

my first and only "easy" answer for the day:

Conservatives must take over the main sources of mass communication and turn out the liberal disruptors.

This essay is spot on. As a 72-year-old woman, happy and busy and active, I was a classic tomboy growing up and actually still am. I thank God everyday that all of this transgender insanity was not floating around when I was little and climbing trees and looking under rocks. The culture simply accepted me as one of those wild tomboys! No one tried to change anything about me. I am so concerned for the future for my eight grandchildren who are all still young. Five of them are girls. It's going to be so hard for them to naturally find their path amidst all of this crazy social morass and cultural rot.
