A brilliant, biting editorial but alas I fear satire is wasted on the humorless.

It truly is wasted on the humorless.

"The instrument of democracy has been discovered in the hands of persons not qualified to operate it."

Exactly. I was tuning into France24 again over the weekend; they had the recent AfD electoral success on loop, complete with recurring references to "nazi" and "far-right." Much dismay among the enlightened stage-dwellers that some sizable portion of German citizens opposed dissolution of their country into internationalist soup.

I was hoping with the discovery of the USAID scandal that we'd find evidence that first world taxpayers were funding subversive propaganda and their own cultural demise. But the diabolical still maintain their control over government machinery, driven into deliberate, managed decline.

09/08/26: With all due respect, you and I and countless others will be astonished at how ineffective ALL pre-election day predictions will turn out to be.

How soon we forget: Headline, November 2016, after Trump was elected:

"EVERYONE WAS WRONG!"

Meemanator's avatar

I will always believe Trump won 2020 because the 'polls' declared Hitlery ahead and so the dummies didn't know how much to cheat. I think they know now.

Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.

09/08/26: “WOLF! NAZIS! WOLF NAZIS!”

A good many Germans, subjected to this nefarious transatlantic McCarthyism, correctly decided that the above rhetoric --- based on a comparison of 1932 to 2026 --- was insane.

Hitler in 1932 was running for office in a country that had NOT been invaded by millions of violent Muslims posing as “victims” of “oppression” in their own countries.

Debra Nolasco's avatar

If you wish to read an insightful article about the infiltration of unassimilated Muslims in the U.S., I recommend the following article (for which I am unable to provide a link): "American Medinas: Turning U.S. Cities into "Beachheads for Islam" by Paul Sperry, dated 8/25/2026. You will find it at realclearinvestigations.com. It is lengthy, but a real eye-opener.

Not an invasion when invited and that is precisely what is happening here. Chip Roy is raising cain about a potential shiria implementing operation being located in San Antonio and funded by the muslim brotherhood who have been declared a terriorist org. by the Texas governor.

When I see what is going on in Germany, it looks to me like these parties are acting more like Nazis than the party they accuse of being like Nazis. That goes as well for Romania!

Joy Metcalf's avatar

Oh, you mean like those who spew vitriol, with faces contorted in rage, screaming "HATERS" to the mild mannered and reasoned on campus?

We usually vote FOR people we like. This election we may have to vote AGAINST some candidates.

Issues must come before personalities.

If you don’t vote this election know that someone else will determine your government.

Joy Metcalf's avatar

Speak for yourself. I've been voting "for" the lessor of two evils since the 60's, and that's really just a way to say I've been voting *against* the other guy.

How could it be a surprise to any that folks subjected to decades of communism might just not be appreciative of having it foisted on them again, this time by Brussels.

A fun read. Very entertaining!

I listened to Michael Shellenberger talk with Pauline Voss about the vote. Political speak is something we are finally waking up to in order to 'read between the lines'.

Norma Odiaga's avatar

That was satisfying to write, wasn't it! I love satire. It gets right to the point! And so many people can't understand it!

Micheal Nash, Ph. D.'s avatar

And many who try cannot write it mainly because it requires a sense of humor they totally lack

That one took everyone by surprise, as I recall.

I'm impressed by the usage of the language to get the point across. (I had to look up "across vs acrost"). Very telling, and I love the ending language of asking for subscribers.

Now this is what happens when the European Council doesn't inflate the electorate with Dead Voters, Illegal Aliens, and fraudulent Ballots to inflate the number of Representatives that the Illegals' districts may elect. They must learn from the US how to do these things if they want to take charge of Elections. The "Voter Interpretation Model of Disenfranhisement" is probably soon to come to a theater near you, the United States.

I offer the following not as satire but a framework to improve and use for reform:

Thoughts for just and equitable solutions to critical issues before us as a country

1. Healthcare and Welfare

Will be available to all US citizens as well as noncitizens who are within the US borders legally.

Health Care will be administered nationally by a panel of nationally board certified health care providers each representing a major specialty or discipline and include representatives of all major health care providers. They will serve 3 year staggered terms and will not be eligible for reappointment until an intervening term has expired. They will be compensated at the rate they were making at the time of the appointment with a cost of living increase annually during their term of service.

Acts of medical negligence brought against health care providers will be reviewed by a group of providers and if evidence is found to substantiate a claim compensation will be offered to one, rectify the medical problem caused by the negligent and two to compensate the individual for lost earnings. The negligent provider will be placed on probation for a period of 36 months during which time all patient activity will be monitored prospectively. Further negligent activity will result in loss of privileges to practice medicine.

Medical insurance will be universally available to all without exclusion for preexisting conditions or cancellation. A uniform Federal Code will be established to create a single policy type which applies to all 50 states. The program will be administered by a board composed of private insurance company actuarials. Basic coverage will include annual screening examinations, emergency treatment, treatment for medical and surgical disease, correction of vision and hearing. Additional coverage for elective medical and surgical treatment will be available at extra cost to the individual.

All job specific related health insurance programs within in both private and public service areas will be eliminated and those individuals will be given access to the national universal health care program. All monies withheld in job specific health care programs will be rolled over into the national universal health care program.

Medicare will be rolled into the universal plan and the Federal Medicare program discontinued.

All state and federal welfare programs will be eliminated. The programs will be replaced by a single agency that will provide public employment to able bodied individuals who do not find employment within the private sector. Public employment pay will be consistent with similar private sector employment pay. Individuals who choose not to accept the public employment offer will be given a second, and third (if necessary) job opportunity. Subsequent to the third job opportunity no further offers will be made nor any pay or subsidy given.

2. Finance

Public corporations will be required to elect boards of directors through elections open to any stockholder. Elections will require parties interested in running for the Board to file for election 3 months before date of election. Each candidate will be required to submit a statement which includes a resume of personal achievements, a statement of why the candidate wishes to sit on the board, and a current history of any law violations including pending actions.

Elected board members will serve staggered terms. Board members will be compensated by issuance of common stock in the corporation equal to the ¼ the annual salary they were receiving at the time of election.

Meetings of the Board will take place at the principle headquarters of the corporation. The cost of board member’s transportation and lodging will be born by the corporation at a rate not to exceed the average per diem compensation of the median employed person employed by the corporation.

Bonuses will be paid to all employees of the corporation based upon the earnings of the corporation and will not be paid if earnings calculated by using GAAP methods are negative. Bonuses will apply equally to all employees of the corporation.

Publicly held corporations will be required to provide annual employee reviews for all employees and any employee found to have a negative review will not be eligible for bonus compensation.

Make income for Active Duty Military tax exempt until the “Fair Tax” is instituted.

The Internal Revenue Service will be eliminated with national (and state if needed by individual states) ”Fair Tax” substitute instituted.

Fee splitting between individuals and or business entities will be made illegal. Substantial penalties for violation of the law will be imposed.

The monetary standard will be returned to the gold standard with elimination of central banking and the Federal Reserve.

Congress

Term limits will be instituted in both the Senate and House of Representatives. Senators will be limited to 2 terms, House members limited to 3 terms. Compensation will be determined by a committee of 12 registered voters within the elected official’s district selected by blind drawing or the average of the elected official’s annual salary 5 years prior to election. Pensions will be eliminated. A per diem will be paid to the elected official based upon the per diem paid the median armed forces officers on duty away from home base.

No elected official will be allowed to vote on a proposed bill which would specifically benefit the district or state from which the individual is elected.

Professional lobbyists or companies whose primary business is lobbying will be declared illegal. No elected official may subsequent to public service form or be hired by any entity whose function is primarily to influence the Congress.

Elected Senators or Representatives will have funding for their staff provided by the district or state from which they are elected.

There will be no tenure or pension derived from service in Congress. This provision is retroactive to include all members past, present, and future.

Members of Congress will participate in the same identical health care and social security plans as the citizens of the United States of America. This provision is retroactive to include all members past, present, and future. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system.

Election campaigns will be limited to a 3 month period preceding the date of election. Each candidate will be given an equal specified amount of money, television, radio, and print campaign funding. Each candidate will be required to answer a series of questions compiled by a 12 member panel drawn blindly from registered voters within the candidate’s district. All candidates will be required to publish a personal history vetted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation which at minimum must include education, job history, and all criminal convictions. No candidate will be allowed to exceed the allotted funds, television, radio, and print funding provided. No individuals other than the candidate will be allowed to participate in funding of a candidate. Such participation will result in criminal prosecution.

Funding for the business of the Congress will be provided by an independent agency. The agency will be headed by appointees of 10 governors of individual States and serve for staggered 3 year terms. Congress itself is prohibited from granting any type of compensation to its membership.

Members of Congress are subject to and must abide by all laws common to the citizens of the United States of America.

No new laws will be enacted until all the current laws, rules and regulations have been reviewed, revised, or repealed. Congress will spend however long necessary reviewing all laws, rules and regulations currently in force. The laws, rules and regulations will be reviewed for relevance and repealed if found irrelevant.

4. Voter Eligibility

Voter eligibility for any public election will require proof of US citizenship verified by federal background check and issuance of a federal voter photograph ID or US passport. In addition, a basic knowledge test will be printed on each ballot with 10 true false or multiple-choice questions. Failure to correctly answer 7 of the 10 questions will void the vote
