As a regular viewer of GB News, there are many mentions of a yearning for a First Amendment-type constraint on government in the UK. Their pathway to tyranny is much further along than ours. But that’s not to deny the significant danger to which you refer for us, because the peril leapfrogs First Amendment protections. Insidious. Evil. The fruit of darkness. “The instrument is law. The effect is control. The target is thought.” My thought is, and will be, shaped by wrestling with Scripture:
“But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
The USA Founders were NOT ignorant of HISTORY as THIS PARTICULAR (GLOBAL) generation IS - in that they KNEW that NO so-called "democracy" in history lasted much longer that 300 YEARS - and "WE" are now at year # 250!
In the 2024 election cycle we heard over and over that Trump is Hitler, but somehow we never heard that Harris is Stalin. Why is that? After all, compared to Stalin, Hitler was an amateur in the mass murder department (though one might argue that he ran out of time.) Somehow the NAZIs are the eternal reference point for what is seen as institutional evil, but never the massively murderous Communists. This is part of our tendency to forgo facts and rational thought for emotional arguments. Many arguments amount to claims of knowing the innermost thoughts and motivations of others.
Do not pay attention to any arguments that boil down to “I know what he is thinking and what his true motives are.” Do not make such arguments yourself.
Obviously, Obama did much more harm than just Race-baiting for his years in office! That should be the last time we allow ourselves to be lied to about the birth right of someone running for President! The grandparents who raised him in Hawaii were Communists. Essentially, we got what we voted for……..a lot LESS than the “best man” for the job. We still suffer for that error and will continue to, until we get rid of Obamacare for good! So we've always had these gatekeepers, but now they can be a world away and you won't even know their names. We desperately need to bring back local papers - at least there you have a chance of validating what you read. Distance promotes unaccountability.

Very timely and instructive. Everyone's eyeballs should be on this censorship. I've given up on self hosting because of the onerous burden of European and certain state laws.
I always advise frequent travelers to avoid social media, thereby self censoring, because of the reality of what happens in Europe. Once you're in their clutches, they can detain you if you have demonstrated wrong-think in a public manner, or if you are a techie who has hosted wrong-think. On the other hand, I'm not going to be quiet, and I'm not traveling to Europe.
The standards for what is wrong-think are ever changing.
