We're all feeling abandoned by the MAHA and MAGA machine. What once seemed like a powerful team devoted for change now sits in a windowless room full of gold, drones, AI servers, flock cameras, and glyphosate. I'm still going to vote, but man do I feel deflated!

Dr. Robert W. Malone's avatar

Yeh, that's where I am- the alternative is worse, much worse. But things are looking pretty grim.

Lekimball's avatar

Well, I guess I knew there would be constraints on what they could do and I feel like we've made some decent progress. And the alternative is not even a consideration. I feel deflated about the DSA and how naive the American people are--giving away their freedom for promises of security that will never happen.

Tending to libertarian ideology, I've always been in the political wilderness -- but I really feel like a political orphan these days. Corruption seems to be a primary card in this game.

Here is a subject I knew nothing about until now. What a quagmire of twisty-turny events in the world of publishing. Feels like a jigsaw puzzle that you have traced to the end, or almost. No matter where I look there is deceit cloaked in an almost invisible shield. The time it takes to unravel these nuances is worth noting. No wonder there are enough questionable ethics to write a book on Grifting and no wonder Skyhorse doesn't want anything more to do with you! Skyhorse could be renamed any number of less attractive names, like Slipperyhorse... you get the drift.

Notwithstanding the correctness or not of the premise of the article, which as usual, is finely written, I would vastly prefer to see an expose of the Communists and their sympathizers and supporters who are endangering even further, our Congress and local governments. We are all disappointed with MAHA, but we are almost at mid-terms. As usual, the Republicans deserve to lose. However, where will this leave our nation?

The difficulty of tracing the money is a feature, not an accident. If government employees are involved in any way, the default assumption for me is corruption. I certainly think bribery should be the default assumption until proven otherwise. I am using bribery in a non-legal sense to include any influence operations.

I have learned in my long saga of writing a book about the 1982 Tylenol murders (Seven Innocents) in Chicago and my involvement from a business and drug background and standpoint, that my investment which exceeds $10,000 will never be recovered. I have no status as a writer and therefore book agents have no interest. If RFK Jr. has a $2 million advance each on the future publication of two books, that is chicken feed, compared to the $65 million advance that Barack Obama and Michelle got for their memoirs. I will be interested what RFK Jr. has to say about the internal battles at NIH that he has had to endure. I wonder how many books the publisher has to sell to have a return on the $65 million investment.

MarKe's avatar

I agree with your point. I also find it difficult to believe that RFK, Jr. could be bought so cheaply, if at all. I, at least, hope not.

Historically they did not care who one the election since they controlled both parties(Rinos) from the top. You will understand how deep it goes over time.

The Council Of Foreign Relations has gained a virtual lock-hold on the U.S. government, regardless of which party is in office. No other organization comes close to boasting the kind of clout that the CFR members have held: eight presidents of the U.S.; seven vice presidents; 17 secretaries of state; 20 secretaries of war/defense; 18 secretaries of the Treasury; 15 directors of the CIA. And it has gone throughout the Cabinets, in seriatim — through Democrat and Republican administrations — with hundreds of deputy secretaries, assistant secretaries, etc.

The CFR has only 3000 members yet they control over three-quarters of the nation's wealth. The CFR runs the State Department and the CIA. The CFR has placed 100 CFR members in every Presidential Administration and cabinet since Woodrow Wilson. They work together to misinform the President to act in the best interest of the CFR not the best interest of the American People. At least five Presidents (Eisenhower, Ford, Carter, Bush, and Clinton) have been members of the CFR. The CFR has packed every Supreme court with CFR insiders.

Donald Trump’s administrations have intentionally distanced themselves from the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), mirroring his "America First" platform that frequently criticizes globalist institutions and traditional foreign policy establishments.

Consequently, very few members of his Cabinets have held CFR membership compared to prior administrations.

However, a select few high-profile officials with ties to the council have served in his Cabinets or in cabinet-level roles across his terms:

First-Term Cabinet & Cabinet-Level Members (2017–2021)

Elaine Chao (Secretary of Transportation): A long-standing member of the traditional political establishment, Chao is an active member of the CFR.

________________________________

Robert Lighthizer (U.S. Trade Representative): Though a staunch advocate for Trump's protectionist trade policies, Lighthizer has maintained a membership with the council.

________________________________

H.R. McMaster (National Security Advisor): While the National Security Advisor is not always a formal Cabinet head, it is a key cabinet-level official. McMaster, a retired Army Lieutenant General who served from 2017 to 2018, is a CFR member.

________________________________

Mike Pompeo (Secretary of State / CIA Director): Pompeo is a member of the CFR. Trump later labeled advisors like Pompeo "globalists and warmongers", explicitly stating he would not invite him back for a second term.

***************************************************

Second-Term Cabinet Members (2025–Present)

Scott Bessent (Secretary of the Treasury): Appointed to lead the Treasury department in Trump's second term, the hedge fund billionaire and founder of Key Square Group is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Other Notable Administration Figures

Beyond the formal Cabinet, a few sub-cabinet officials and envoys held membership, such as Elliott Abrams, a senior fellow at the CFR who served as Trump's Special Representative for Iran and Venezuela.

I'm detecting sour grapes.... are you looking to divide?

"....the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) had not yet completed its separate review. As of October 15, we could find no public confirmation that OGE had issued its final certification."

Happy to hear your take on the situation. Sorry I spent the time needed to read it all. The OGE will report and then, conclusions can be drawn.

You know, I always wondered about these book deals. Seemed weird publishers would pay that much money or anyone would really want to read this stuff.

This is disgusting. Many years ago I and a few friends, who all wrote poetry, tried to publish. We had to pay a large sum for a private book, and one friend paid a smaller sum for her poems to be published in a book with a group of other poets. I know of a couple people who paid for their own publishing. And these stinkers get paid millions! and out of our pockets.

I decided I won't vote this time, because the candidates left over to vote for are no good. I cannot chose between bad apples and bad pears.

Barbara Williamson's avatar

P.S. The Clintons and the Obamas have nothing of interest to say that would compel me to buy any of their books, now or in the future. Plus, I doubt much, if any of it, is factual. They all spent too much time in lies and cover-ups during their time in office to warrant the truth now. Ha!

When you think of the amount of time that has passed in our country’s history, and how the graft and palm greasing has become entrenched over the years, I am ecstatic l to hear every time some dark dealings in ANY Party is exposed. It represents more “house cleaning.” That is something we must never stop doing to keep honesty at the forefront of our nation. Lying, among those in politics, has become synonymous with the word “politician.” These clearly are NOT people of quality or worthy of our votes to sit in Congress. We MUST be more surgical in our choices of candidates! The world is full of “trash,” but they don’t deserve to sit in our government!
