I suggest that a representative republic SHOULD be scripted. It IS supposed to be about what We, the People want. Money talks, walks, and is the source of power and influence. That’s the key. Take “funding” the government out of the hands of the lobbyists few and distribute it across the entire population of citizen taxpayers. How? Separate spending (proposals) from funding (taxes). ASK citizen taxpayers to agree to let their personal tax dollars be used for each spending proposal. This shifts and distributes every government action across the entire decision making population so that citizens get the governance they want to the extent THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. The burden of reliance then on politicians of integrity is lessened because it is shouldered by citizens who have real skin in the game.

The fact that all social media is at ones finger tips via their phones vs a computer at home is a major problem. They take this false reality everywhere with them. You were lucky. My cat, Lucky, who was an indoor cat but occasionally snuck out, would bring home headless mice and snake halves, and once shredded a poor bird to the point that I only knew it was a bird because its two feet were still intact. He lived to age 21 and was the best pet I've ever had.

I’m all in on second chances. I only wish he had to go through a jury of his peers. There are certainly plenty of accusations, wouldn’t it be nice to find out what he really did. And then pay his debt to the people he hurt. Now that would show what he’s made of. A convicted rapist can’t vote never mind be a senator. If he didn’t do the things people are accusing him of he should sue for defamation. Then there would be discovery, everyone would learn the facts, and if Graham Platner is a wonderful man it would all come out. So let’s see if he sues.

Well if we’ve been voting by character we obviously can’t tell good from bad. Most of our elected officials have either 1) no character (at least no distinguishable character) 2)stick my finger up and see which way the wind is blowing character or 3)pathological (liar, abuser, embezzler etc…) They answer to power, money and blackmail. The stories typically come out when the party realizes that the person may break from the party and not hold the establishment line or they’ve determined that they have no use for that person anymore. It’s then that they have to get the herd to go against or attack them.

People are not leopards, and yes, they can change. Whether that is real is for each person to determine, but I have seen this same playbook used against many people, Trump included. Smears are just that--smears--until evidence, not allegations--is presented.
Respectfully disagree that you have to judge on policies not character. Character drives policy. If character is bad, policies likely will be too. Character is everything! It’s built over a lifetime. It persists when you run for office, while you’re in office, and after you leave office.
Unfortunately, it’s not easy for the casual voter (or even the well-studied one) to truly know another person’s character simply by watching from the outside. And even if you know the person (e.g., a family member or long-time friend), you can be fooled. We certainly have been.

This is a reasonable argument to make if Mr Platner were applying for a job in the town grocery given a sketchy past. But public service in a leadership position which requires standards of character that exceed those we call average. Doesn’t matter which “side” a politician is on; most are managed, scripted, and controlled by their campaigns, donors, other sources of money, desire for power, blackmail, etc. Trusting or pinning your hopes on anyone — no matter — is a recipe for disappointment. Sounds cynical? Yes, it is, but it’s based on close observation over the past 5 years or so. (We were totally asleep before that, embarrassed to say.)
I suggest that a representative republic SHOULD be scripted. It IS supposed to be about what We, the People want. Money talks, walks, and is the source of power and influence. That’s the key. Take “funding” the government out of the hands of the lobbyists few and distribute it across the entire population of citizen taxpayers. How? Separate spending (proposals) from funding (taxes). ASK citizen taxpayers to agree to let their personal tax dollars be used for each spending proposal. This shifts and distributes every government action across the entire decision making population so that citizens get the governance they want to the extent THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. The burden of reliance then on politicians of integrity is lessened because it is shouldered by citizens who have real skin in the game.

Social Media being peoples actual life. I don't do all the major ones, I used to, but I haven't since 2018. With the algorithms it so skews ones thinking. The fact that all social media is at ones finger tips via their phones vs a computer at home is a major problem. They take this false reality everywhere with them. I watch people everyday walking with their heads in their phones, sitting in waiting rooms glued to their phones and the worst for me is watching parents at the parks and at kids activities scrolling in their phones instead of watching their kids. It's an addiction to a false reality filled with trolls and bots. I find it so absurd that the White House has a Twitter account and that our President makes serious announcements on a social media platform. Unless you are off of it you can't really see the absurdity of it all. That's my opinion.

I was on a Dude Ranch vacation occupying a charming rustic cabin alone. One of the ranch felines followed me inside after dinner. I allowed her to stay since I love cats.
When I awoke in the morning, a freshly dead still bleeding mouse was lying on my blanket. The cat was purring at my feet. I feel honored to have been given such a gift after watching this video. She could have eaten it without sharing first. 🤣🤣🤣
My cat brought in a bird once, plopped it under the table as if to say “Look what I brought for dinner, Ma.” It still was alive, and I picked it up with a paper towel and put it out on the bird feeder. It flew away. I don’t think my cat would know what to do with something she caught. She’s strictly a cat kibble cat or canned tuna. Won’t even eat fresh fish.
You were lucky. My cat, Lucky, who was an indoor cat but occasionally snuck out, would bring home headless mice and snake halves, and once shredded a poor bird to the point that I only knew it was a bird because its two feet were still intact. He lived to age 21 and was the best pet I've ever had.

Thanks DD. He will be missed. The vet said he had stolen her heart in a day and with his dementia he was only 1/2 there. He was that kind of cat.
We had to euthanize our beloved cat on Christmas day 2010. She was only 13 but full of cancer. The saddest holiday of my life and I'm 78.
For a few weeks afterward, both my husband and I would "see" her out of the corners of our eyes. She was always at the door to our bedroom where she slept on the foot of the bed.
I believe they continue beyond time.

The liberal couple who can't get pregnant reminds me of my daughter's stepdaughter. She was always a tomboy and hung out with the boys.
