I've been on a rollercoaster since the first of the year when my elderly lib (aka mom) fell and shattered her wrist, and another fall in May which gave her a mild-moderate compression wedge fracture - lots of pain at first, better now. Just spent a week in full, and sole, caregiver role as the majority of our "backups" were out of town at the same time. She actually is doing quite well now that we have finally convinced her to use a walker!!! She is 87. I am totally blessed to have her, and to be able to help her when needed is another gift. I just cant talk about things I want to talk about. Like Joy M mentioned, my family shuts off any important discussion and uses Moms health to prevent me from causing stress. I know you probably do and try but have to say please take care of yourself, getting enough, good quality sleep is so important. If Republicans, including RINO’s, could just join together for a moment, they could easily hold onto power and win in the upcoming midterms. All they have to do is be patriotic, pro American and follow through on their representation of their constituents. 80 plus % of Americans don’t want communism. What an opportunity to grow the party and bring freedom loving Americans “together” under one big tent. Let’s hope some common sense will rise to the top.

I've been on a rollercoaster since the first of the year when my elderly lib (aka mom) fell and shattered her wrist, and another fall in May which gave her a mild-moderate compression wedge fracture - lots of pain at first, better now. Just spent a week in full, and sole, caregiver role as the majority of our "backups" were out of town at the same time. She actually is doing quite well now that we have finally convinced her to use a walker!!! She is 87. I am totally blessed to have her, and to be able to help her when needed is another gift. I just cant talk about things I want to talk about. Like Joy M mentioned, my family shuts off any important discussion and uses Moms health to prevent me from causing stress. However, thank you for the reminder to Never Give up. I've been waiting for this time, after other family returns, to "step on the gas" with regard to sharing information with the younger ones. I will do it with love and courage, and not worry about being hated for it. I've gotten some hope from the Promethian Action group. To me: the two women who report most frequently are sort of like the Malones (Drs Robert and Jill) in that they simply exude competence and character. They speak with the kind of authority that comes only from deep experience wisdom, and well educated knowledge (credit to God). My wife and i are the “ones” in the family. The AZ branch are blinded liberals, dems can do no wrong type. The Texas and NV branches are in the dems can do no right group. At least half of them can think for themselves. That’s just her side of the family, my side only the youngsters have lost their way.
I also have a very similar family and don’t even try to engage them about what is happening to this country. Their TDS is real and there is nothing to be said to even have them open their minds just a little bit. It’s so sad to see 🥲 Bless you for caring for your Mom. I’m doing the same for my older brother who suffers from dementia.
bless you too, it is difficult to say the least when dementia is involved. I cared for my husband for 12 years. I know you probably do and try but have to say please take care of yourself, getting enough, good quality sleep is so important. My family is so far gone, but I am wanting to tell them (remind them) about truth of communism, antisemitism, islamist sharia law (real issues going on right now where I live), i want to tell them good things about Trump that they dont want to hear...etc. Some are Climate-change-ists to the core. One told me once that it didn't matter if the models were wrong, it is still true. sometimes it eats at me, and I tell myself that the best way to "talk" to them is more about my behavior than my words, but part of me wants to say ---- something that will get through.
The only thing I can say, the thing I have been saying for decades, is that this was the logical path of the democrat party since they first came on the scene 250+ years ago. Once you take that fork in the road that leads to big government and you shed and continue to shed the ideals the propelled America forward, soft socialism -> hard socialism -> communism has to be the final solution. What many/most didn’t see was the heady influence of Islamofascism being added to the mix leading to a sharp inflection point.
Frankly, I think it will be interesting to watch this progression, possibly to three political parties: republicans, democrats, islamofascists. The brightest of blue states may indeed fall to islamofascism while pinker states get a little more pink as the wiser and more fearfull/worried of the dems switch parties. The problem with islamofascism is it’s like a bad strawberry in a container on a pallet in the back of the stack at Costco - it’ll spread until all those berries are bad.
Personally, until our politicians and law/military institutions take to heart the oath they swore, to defend America from all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC, America will fall, hard, from the ideals and tenets she was founded on.

Most "Republicans" are so swamped with life stuff they're not carving out the time to pay attention and wake UP.
Although bringing former Democrats into the Republican fold may seem like a good idea, it will most certainly alter the true Republican Party, & I'm not particularly keen on that. There was, of course, a Democrat-Republican Party in days of old, but that's not what I'm seeking now. To even allow the Socialist Party or "Democrat Socialist Party", which contains nothing but wannabe Communists, a foothold into our election system is a very frightening proposition. I strongly believe they are merely adding the "Democrat" moniker to make their "Party" appear more in tune with norms that the Americam populace is comfortable with. I also believe this to be how they plan on gaining a foothold into our political system & this simply gives them an inordinate amount of breathing room to further breed & potentially destroy our Republic.
What I have been hoping for is for those mainstream Democrats to grow a pair & fight back.. to reclaim their Party. The political system of Democrat (real ones) vs. Republican has worked well for the decades I can remember. Yes, it's not been perfect or pretty, but it has worked.
Though not a deep historical buff, I know enough to be deeply disturbed about both Socialism (they really mean Communism) as well as Islamism with its Shariah Law & Jihadi push.
With a weakened Democrat Party due to the true Democrats jumping ship, this concept leaves far too much room for a complete takeover by either of the two extremist groups. It would take but one election. Less than one generation. To me, that's a frightening potential outcome.
The true Democrats seem to have been manipulated, weakened, & backed into a corner. This, I wholeheartedly believe, is by nefarious design. By virtue of extreme patience & outside monies, the actual plan is being laid into place little by little.
I pray I am off base here & am just being paranoid, but my "spidey senses" (aka The Holy Ghost that was also responsible in alerting me to get more informed so as to not take the WuFlu jab) are rumbling within. Will some REAL Democrats please step up? Those of us who consider themselves real Republicans would actually welcome a healthy debate about how to rid ourselves of the plague of undesirables attempting to infiltrate our political system!

I thought you could either plead the Fifth, or not. All or nothing. And this would be why Rand Paul is making an issue of Fauci's opening statement, arguing it opens him up to having waived the protections of the Fifth. If I have this right, then the questions, particularly the "What color is your tie" ones are just for spectacle. I came away thinking the maximum penalty for Fauci is and will be his loss of face, which for him is probably significant. But it falls SO FAR short of consequences for what Fauci, Birx, Biden, etc. put us through. Absolutely RUINED lives.

The last one with the dog is adorable. I know from having 3 but most recently adopting the 3rd, which is a double merle Aussie Shepherd (so deaf and partially blind) that he has zero personal space with any hooman.

I wish we could add pics to this thread. He's adorable but he also drives me crazy at times because Aussies are high energy. He's only 1.5 but he acts like he's 6mos because he can't hear so he's in everything.
I kinda like to roll with dogs that are more low key...I adopted a Pyrenees (such a low key demeanor I could own 10, lol) a little 12yr old mutt mix I adopted from the city pound, and now Koda, the lovable but high energy Aussie. I always have 3 so he replaced by beloved Alaskan Malamute Belloc, who made it to 16.5yrs.
I know you and Jill probably don't need another dog but my favorite breed is the Alaskan Malamute. They are majestic and I'm 40 per cent Mohawk Indian so it's fitting that I adopted a Native American dog.
