So many people don’t understand the full picture of Trumps overnight removal of Venezuela’s dictator Maduro. It had nothing to do with illegal immigration, drugs or even oil in the way many people may think. It’s not about him focusing on foreign endeavors and not on America. America didn’t need Venezuelan oil, China does. China buys 90% of Venezuela’s crude. China buys nearly all of Irans oil. Venezuela and Iran make up 70% of what China buys in oil.
Venezuela sits on the largest oil reserves in the world, over 300 billion barrels worth 17 trillion dollars. In one quick raid, without a war, America has taken control of a big piece of China’s energy, and without energy they won’t be able to invade Taiwan, they won’t be able to lead and manipulate AI and there will be no BRICS currency replacing the dollar. As Marco Rubio said we don’t need Venezuela’s oil, but we will not allow this hemispheres energy to be controlled by America’s adversaries. Power doesn’t necessarily come from energy, it comes from who controls who gets the energy.
I’m not sure if you’ve heard about the demonstrations in Iran, the MSM refuses to show it. I have heard that the Mulla’s are very close to fleeing the country. The people are hungry and they’ve had it with being impoverished. Iran has a long incredible history. They are certainly not a third world nation although they have been run by third world dictators. I don’t know what will happen there but Trump’s pressuring them and his taking control of Venezuela is definitely a pro American strategy. It’s a long game approach for an America that will stay dominant long after he is gone.

I would be interested in your import/export data sources. China dominates Venezuela’s export market, receiving 75% +/- of what Venezuela exports in all goods. Venezuela is often misunderstood as a primary supplier of China imported oil. Venezuela’s total exports of oil are small compared with China’s overall crude import volumes. In 2025, Venezuela exported roughly ~470,000 b/d to China, or about ~4 to 5% of China’s seaborne crude imports — not a “primary” share like Russia which was ≈20%. Some Venezuelan crude imported into China is re-branded, as other countries’ crude (e.g., Brazilian, Malaysian) to skirt sanctions, which can obscure origin data. China is arguably the biggest destination for what Venezuela exports, but because Venezuela’s total crude exports are relatively small, its share of China’s overall crude imports is only a modest portion (~4 to 5 %), not a primary supplier by volume. Top suppliers to China of imported oil remain primarily Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, and perhaps also Iran, but the data here are not easily confirmed. Total imports of oil in China are approx 74% of total oil consumption by China. Significant pressure on Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran is certainly needed to affect China’s access to global oil supply.
China buys nearly 90% of Venezuela’s oil and almost all of Irans oil and a massive share of Russias exports. Trumps taking Venezuela’s oil from China and pressuring Iran, China is losing nearly 70% of its none US regulated oil supply. AND, the Venezuelan oil was bought at sanction price, well below market price, which was benefiting China greatly. Now they have to buy OPEC oil at market price, and Russian oil, which is at sanction price—they are in a big bind—that’s something to celebrate!

yes the heavy smokers I know ended up being ethernally coughing, or on oxygen. Dad smoked a bit and gave up years ago. Just last week, my 16 year old granddaughter had a seizure, her parents rushed her to the ER. They took all kinds of test and even did a spinal tap called an LP on her. The doctor decided with a migraine headache and a seizure, he should tap her spinal fluid?
Well he did a poor job of it and two days later she is having tons of problems, and went to her primary doctor. She was leaking spinal fluid, not infected yet, but needed surgery to put a patch over the leak. Her primary told her, do not go to the local hospital, you know the one that did the spinal tap, for this surgery, go to the one, one hour away.
All this and then the doctors and nurses during the first emergency insisted on having a private conversation with my granddaughter. While she was pretty out of it, they are asking her what she wants them to do, and if she wants them to share that with her parents. In Oregon, the minors are legal at 14. They can get abortions, hormones and any other procedure they want, at the parents expense, with out parental consent. So freaking unbelievable. Sorry this is so long, I am pissed at the medical community, especially at the Oregon community. These educated doctors think it is fine to talk and consult with a 14 year old about their medical conditions without the parent in the room?

Because of the time I spent in the Air Force and working as a technician I was a decade older than most other grad students. There was one who graduated from a middle class Houston high school (1971?) who simply could not believe there had been virtually no drugs in my high school (1960). The difference was, of course, Vietnam. We sent a slew of draftees to where drugs were as common as pop tarts in Peoria and our c.i.a. were actively involved in their distribution. So the home coming troops presented drug dealers here with a new clientele the size of which they had never dreamed. So many people don’t understand the full picture of Trumps overnight removal of Venezuela’s dictator Maduro. It had nothing to do with illegal immigration, drugs or even oil in the way many people may think. It’s not about him focusing on foreign endeavors and not on America. America didn’t need Venezuelan oil, China does. China buys 90% of Venezuela’s crude. China buys nearly all of Irans oil. Venezuela and Iran make up 70% of what China buys in oil.
Venezuela sits on the largest oil reserves in the world, over 300 billion barrels worth 17 trillion dollars. In one quick raid, without a war, America has taken control of a big piece of China’s energy, and without energy they won’t be able to invade Taiwan, they won’t be able to lead and manipulate AI and there will be no BRICS currency replacing the dollar. As Marco Rubio said we don’t need Venezuela’s oil, but we will not allow this hemispheres energy to be controlled by America’s adversaries. Power doesn’t necessarily come from energy, it comes from who controls who gets the energy.
I’m not sure if you’ve heard about the demonstrations in Iran, the MSM refuses to show it. I have heard that the Mulla’s are very close to fleeing the country. The people are hungry and they’ve had it with being impoverished. Iran has a long incredible history. They are certainly not a third world nation although they have been run by third world dictators. I don’t know what will happen there but Trump’s pressuring them and his taking control of Venezuela is definitely a pro American strategy. It’s a long game approach for an America that will stay dominant long after he is gone.

I would be interested in your import/export data sources. China dominates Venezuela’s export market, receiving 75% +/- of what Venezuela exports in all goods. Venezuela is often misunderstood as a primary supplier of China imported oil. Venezuela’s total exports of oil are small compared with China’s overall crude import volumes. In 2025, Venezuela exported roughly ~470,000 b/d to China, or about ~4 to 5% of China’s seaborne crude imports — not a “primary” share like Russia which was ≈20%. Some Venezuelan crude imported into China is re-branded, as other countries’ crude (e.g., Brazilian, Malaysian) to skirt sanctions, which can obscure origin data. China is arguably the biggest destination for what Venezuela exports, but because Venezuela’s total crude exports are relatively small, its share of China’s overall crude imports is only a modest portion (~4 to 5 %), not a primary supplier by volume. Top suppliers to China of imported oil remain primarily Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, and perhaps also Iran, but the data here are not easily confirmed. Total imports of oil in China are approx 74% of total oil consumption by China. Significant pressure on Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran is certainly needed to affect China’s access to global oil supply.
China buys nearly 90% of Venezuela’s oil and almost all of Irans oil and a massive share of Russias exports. Trumps taking Venezuela’s oil from China and pressuring Iran, China is losing nearly 70% of its none US regulated oil supply. This will halt them from invading Taiwan, no dominating AI, and no BRICS currency dollar replacement. Maybe that makes more sense or more clear.
AND, the Venezuelan oil was bought at sanction price, well below market price, which was benefiting China greatly. Now they have to buy OPEC oil at market price, and Russian oil, which is at sanction price—they are in a big bind—that’s something to celebrate!

My wife still smokes at 83. She never gets colds. But her smoker's cough is world class. Personally I would prefer the colds.
Less than 2% of those hospitalized for Covid were smokers. Something to be said for nicotine. The tobacco companies added to the cigarettes to make them addictive. Nicotine by itself is not addictive.

My Basque stepdad had COPD and an oxygen tank, but lived to be 96. He never smoked! His problem was breathing secondhand smoke below decks in the Merchant Marine during WW2.

Just last week, my 16 year old granddaughter had a seizure, her parents rushed her to the ER. They took all kinds of test and even did a spinal tap called an LP on her. The doctor decided with a migraine headache and a seizure, he should tap her spinal fluid?
Well he did a poor job of it and two days later she is having tons of problems, and went to her primary doctor. She was leaking spinal fluid, not infected yet, but needed surgery to put a patch over the leak. Her primary told her, do not go to the local hospital, you know the one that did the spinal tap, for this surgery, go to the one, one hour away.
All this and then the doctors and nurses during the first emergency insisted on having a private conversation with my granddaughter. While she was pretty out of it, they are asking her what she wants them to do, and if she wants them to share that with her parents. In Oregon, the minors are legal at 14. They can get abortions, hormones and any other procedure they want, at the parents expense, with out parental consent. So freaking unbelievable. Sorry this is so long, I am pissed at the medical community, especially at the Oregon community. These educated doctors think it is fine to talk and consult with a 14 year old about their medical conditions without the parent in the room?

Because of the time I spent in the Air Force and working as a technician I was a decade older than most other grad students. There was one who graduated from a middle class Houston high school (1971?) who simply could not believe there had been virtually no drugs in my high school (1960). The difference was, of course, Vietnam. We sent a slew of draftees to where drugs were as common as pop tarts in Peoria and our c.i.a. were actively involved in their distribution. So the home coming troops presented drug dealers here with a new clientele the size of which they had never dreamed. And it only grew because our overlords never appreciated the threat this presented, perhaps in part because so many were themselves users--if stories we have heard coming out of the White House are true. Are drugs to remain an integral part of our culture, slowly but inevitably bringing us to 3rd world status, or will this act by Pres.Trump be our first step to redemption?
