Our garden has yielded nothing to write home about this season. I’ve noticed a severe lack of bees this year and it’s been depressing. We don’t have a large garden by any means as our property is tiny but out usuall yields have been more than the wife and me can eat. Not this year! Think bees are a nuisance? Getting stung hurts? Not having them will devastate our food supply. If I had the property I would have our own hives. 2 more years!
We have had a bee tree out in our open space area (not super close to our home) for years. I love to walk down there and watch them so busy, in and out, back and forth. I think that is why I have bees for my area. Just recently walked down there again and voila` they have colonized a new tree down a bit from the original. Bee condos!
Only thing that is irksome....For years they've been there with no one the wiser. Now, all of a sudden, the rec center that owns the land has put up all kinds of yellow tape and warning signs. Why do so many entities think they have to control every situation. All they've done is alert everyone to come over and bother the inhabitants. 30 years and NOW we MUST be WARNED. Sigh.
Whew! When Russell gets rolling hard to get a word in edge wise! The key fear factor that was pushed under Covid was that if you do not get the RNA, the risk of you being responsible for the death of a senior family member will be on you! All my children obeyed the message, and I did not! They all had Covid. I got Covid and survived without intervention and I am a true senior.
Love reading you and Thomas Sowell. Kindred spirits. Rural veterinary practice is like rural medicine nowadays. Kids like the puppies and kitties and think its all snuggles until they hit the corporatized practice world. And they love the gen Z (or whatever letter) life of the big city most grew up in….and they come out of veterinary medical school up to their ears in debt. My wife and I went through school as the enemy in Lyndon Johnson’s war on poverty and survived until retirement. It was great and we survived. Wanted to practice on horses. Treated everything from mice to elephants until being put out to pasture. It’d be a treat to see your place. Loving your book(s). Page 34 inspired me to write.

I think I found out about him through Turning Point and got the book Unhumans: The Secret History of Communist Revolutions (and How to Crush Them). WOW I looked him up and he is called everything under the sun.. wikipedia.. doing a Google search. I had no idea he was that young. so smart.. and a friend of Charlie Kick's too.. It worked for me. :)

Every time he has Malone on, he has to have him slow down because Bannon knows A TON, but biomedical sciences are not in his wheelhouse. Investment banking, domestic and foreign policy, history from any time period, and the Catholic Church are in his wheelhouse. He is the only one who predicted we would get a Francis 10.0 as Pope. He didn't offer the name but several weeks before the Conclave he appeared on a show and said it would be a dark horse candidate that no one would be familiar with but that the Cardinal elected would try to portray himself as sympathetic to the Traditional Church but would be way more radical than Bergoglio. He comes up with the best terms too. He calls it Corporate Catholic Church.

My yellow squash looks like your yellow squash, which was a surprise as I've always ended up with smooth, fairly uniform in the past.
We've unfairly been targeted by Fred the Squirrel and his cohorts who keep making off with the squash, apples. and grapes. Everything else is covered but those. How come you are not eaten out of house and home?
I love the little garlic babies. I don't think our soil is amended well yet. Our potatos, onions and garlic never seem to grow very big.

UAP WHISTLEBLOWERS and a TV crew? I hope Jill called for a catering truck.. :) I am not sure where to start on that but I for sure sympathize w/ airline issues. I learned years ago.. not to fly by way of Atlanta, it only took once of the plane stacked up for me to never use that way again; wow on the HOMESTEADING which I have done in my past life. The garlic intrigued me I got some of the Garlic one can plant or use and I love garlic. I wear kitchen plastic gloves.. when I do large batches because of the smell on my fingers and like you said is really rough on your hands and fingernails. I sometimes use a blunt end of a large knife to mash the garlic or a garlic masher/tool when use large quantities. This summer the Vidalia onions have been really good, now that I can eat real food again :) I still think about the funny post of the Kitchen tools piled up to produce on Bowl of looked like Chicken and veggies that you posted, Jill.! as USUAL the HORSES are the main attraction.
Your garden looks amazingly fantastic.. so while you were gone the Veggies kept growing and the Horse family got larger and cuter :) AWESOME :)

Absence of bees noted by my husband this year also. Yields adequate, but not same as in past years.

Sorry, I'm heading for a nap now. After reading this workhorse workout, I'm exhausted.
After reading this, I have to go take a nap to recover my strength. I don't know how you two keep up the frantic pace!
Thank you for sharing the farm life. Roasted garlic paste is delicious, and can be dehidrated and grinded! I know: it take time.
Now I'm hungry (of riasted garlic paste).
