Yes, that's another advantage. I chose not to set up Voicemail in my cell phone to avoid all the crank calls and scams. I have a machine on the landline telling me everyone of the calls and I just let the machine do all the work on answering. I can smile too!!! 😁
Please consider buying an inexpensive GMRS radio and starting a GMRS community for when the worst happens. (Sadly, many telephone companies are REMOVING copper wiring and landlines.)
It is happening here in my rural community. Spectrum is already here and the fiber optic lines between the houses and the Box on the road are shallow. Deer stepping in the sandy soil can break the line. My neighbor has had them out 8 times to fix it and it had only been installed this Spring. Frontier, now bought by Verizon, which we have, is about to do the same thing. Verizon also owns Tracfone. But I only get 2 bars because Verizon keeps scavaging units from the tower 2 miles down the road, so call often get dropped. We might go to Starlink.
I had stop Tracfone which I loved, until Verizon took over. Long story, but Trafone was much better prior to Verizon. To me Spectrum is expensive but here in the city it has good service, and usually has excellent help line operators. Also They raise prices bit by bit so you have to keep an eagle eye on your bill and question everything. I want another service too though and am considering Starlink, do they sell phones too or just the internet satellite, I really need to look into. GMRS sounds less expensive
