I was watching the Trump speech Thursday be streaming on my phone. Not ten minutes into it CBS had already called in pundits and commentators who were walking loudly and interacting over the ongoing Trump speech.
I switched my stream to Al Jazeera - where it was live broadcast worldwide without comment or interruption.
Yep, that's what I commented on the other day, directing others to Coffee and Covid for some truth serum. So, so very rude CBS. Also provided the CBS comment email so others, feeling their scummy vibe, could say their piece.
Sometimes even when we’re at our lowest, in a valley, when things seem the worst, realize it can be a lesson, with growth, a valley of blessing.
David said in psalm 23 the Lord is my shepherd he leads me by the still waters he leads me to the green pastures. When life is going our way, we like this part of the passage. But then it says, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, he was saying the same God that leads you to green pastures and still waters sometimes will lead you to the valley. You may not understand it but if it was not going to work, God would never have allowed it.
When you face tough times you have to remind yourself God would not be leading you to that valley if there was only loss, defeat and heart ache. There’s a purpose for the valley, not to hinder you but to help you. Not to hold you back, but to push you forward. Not to weaken you but to make you stronger. Now the key is your attitude in the valley. If we are negative bitter discouraged we can go through the valley and never see the blessings.
Proverbs say the steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord. We must keep our faith. When you encounter a valley sometimes it’s not because you’ve done something wrong, it could be you’ve done something right. God is ready to promote you but the way he’s going to do it is to take you through the valley.
If we look over the past 10 years we watched doors open in 2016, and doors close in 2020. For 5 years we went through a valley. Know we would never be where we are today without what took place then. Covid, Joe Biden, his administration, Dr. Fauci, was it easy, pleasant or nice? NO, but that valley created other doors to open in November of 2024. We have been through the valley, and with prayer, faith, open eyes and persistence we have come out stronger.
Bitterness can blind us to the blessing, while faith and persistence help you see purpose in the challenge. Valleys bring us closer to God. In the valleys we always gain something. We gain experience we gain endurance. Our character is being developed. With every victory comes a new level of confidence. A challenge you face today may not make sense but in the future what you learn in the valley today will help you in the future.
When David was just a teenager he went out to face Goliath in the Valley of Elah. It wasn’t a coincidence that he was in the valley. Goliath was much bigger, stronger, had more experience, it looked impossible, like David didn’t have a chance, but again we see God turns a valley of defeat into a valley of blessing. David took out his slingshot and a stone, slung it hitting Goliath in the forehead knocking him out. He didn’t have a sword so he took Goliaths sword from his sheath and cut Goliath’s head off.
David came out of that valley not only with more experience, more confidence and respect, but he came out with the sword of Goliath. This battle in the valley of Elah was the beginning of David’s military and political activity, eventually leading him to the thrown. The Valley of Elah for David was a Valley of Blessing. Years later it was this very valley the Israelites led by David with Goliaths sword would defeat the Philistines and take this fertile valley.
It may not be tomorrow or even in 6 months, sometimes it can be years later, the lessons learned in our valleys turn to blessings in our life. Life’s valleys are a part of our spiritual journey of faith, where challenges become opportunities for growth and blessings.
I have been in "that valley" resulting from a desert roll-over car accident in which I flew out of said car. I broke both femurs, shattered my pelvis, broke my ribs. My body outside the wrecked car caught a truck driver's attention. Truck driver positioned his truck to shade my body while notifying emergency. We (sister was driver & stayed in car) were taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital. JESUS the Lord was with us. I was immediately given tetanus before my allergy was known. My sister's husband was/is a radiologist, seeing my sister not standing straight & saw her neck was broken thereby needing a halo brace. I remained comatose for 3 months due partly to my tetanus allergy. My parents' church sent out & prayed for my recovery a long time. My fiance believed doctors' dismal prognosis for me and decided to marry someone else. I've been through very much rehabilitation, physical, mental and emotional but I'm still here on earth.

David is my favorite Old Testament character, his victories, his failures, his dancing (some say naked) before the Tabernacle with the Ark of the Covenant. Psalm 18 is attributed to King David v 28-29. "For You, O LORD, light my lamp; my God lights up my darkness. For in You I can charge an army, and with my God I can leap over a wall!"
Ruth is my other favorite. I need to read more about Daniel. I know the basics. Just today my cousin's wife who is a Hospital Chaplain suggested I read the bible with more intention to hear clearly what God is telling me through the scriptures. I will start with the book of Daniel.
It’s significant that David was a shepherd and the first 5 words in psalm 23 is the Lord is my shepherd. He was anointed to be king at 17, but went back to being a shepherd after his anointing.
It is interesting. He must have so sincerely felt that. the Lord is MY shepherd. brings new meaning to me in reading the whole psalm "Your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Until the age of 30 David was a shepherd protecting his father Jesse’s flock of sheep from lions and bears. David is described as courageously protecting the flock as a shepherd does. Another incredible thing about David is even though he was anointed to be king at 17, he patiently went back to the fields for 13 years and tended to his father’s sheep, showing the importance of commitment to our everyday life, even as a future king.

True! When I 1st moved to this home on 2&3/4 acres I took a walk around on foggy day and got turned around. Walked through several other properties until I came to a road and could walk back to my place.
My son is one of those rare individuals who never--and I mean never--gets lost in the woods. I swear he has a built-in compass. Me, I got lost on my 3 acres if I'm not careful.
He probably reads which side of the trees the moss grows or other environmental clues even if he isn't that conscious that he does it. I was always pretty good at knowing where I was, but in dense fog all bets are off.
My late father was a real lumberjack/longshoreman/prospector. By today’s standards he would scare most men by his presence alone. But he was instead a great role model. Like our Dr here.
OMG, you surely NAILED it today!! After 37 years as a family doc, my partner in life (my nurse from my practice ALL 37 years) now homestead. From chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, pigs and now Katadin SHEEP, we IDENTIFY!!! And LOVE IT. I recently have adopted the mantra SOMEDAY THIS WILL BE A GOOD AND AMUSING STORY as we deal with the daily challenges. I cannot tell you how many 'YouTube degrees' I have and an ENDLESS supply of such stories. And we love this life together as passionately as we loved caring for our patients. Love you guys and the endless stream of wisdom and support you both provide us.

We always spend summers in Michigan but I hate missing a vote. Luckily in florida we do have mail in ballots so I can still do my civic duty and vote.
