I can't even read "Leaving on a jet plane" and not hear John Denver's voice singing.
"And then the artists..." I just got "Heaven" by Van Gogh, paint by numbers for my wintertime amusement. The picture might be beautiful if I can stay in the lines. My eyesight is excellent, hope it still is when I'm done!
I do believe he wrote it for Annie,(1966) and then Peter, Paul and Mary got a huge hit with it. Released in 1969, my long term memory is still with me!
Travers could really pour the emotion into a song. The K-trio came out first with Leaving on a Jet Plane but she absolutely stole it. Those 2 songs by her played constantly in our NCO/airman's club
I started trying to think of something funny. But no. It's too nice for that. Just listened on YouTube. To your point, here were the 1st and 3rd comments that showed up on my screen:
"I remember the day I left for Vietnam as a rifleman replacement. My mother was at the front door trying to hold tears back. Worst experience ever Really never knew that I’d ever see her again. She’s gone now. My friend that drove me is gone as well. And this song reminds me of that day ! 25 th infantry 67-68"
"My dad served multiple tours in Cambodia, Laos and of course Vietnam. I was just a little girl at the time but each time he had to leave us he’d pick up his guitar and play /sing this song for me. Each time I’d cry because I knew I might never see him again. Thankfully he’d return every time, however that much more changed from when he left. As I got older he’d always play this song. My dad passed away 3/8/23 at the age of 77. His birthday was 3/11. He just missed it by 3 days. I think it’s fitting that this song will be played at his memorial service. Seems the perfect way to send him off with love."
The "progressive" art "movement" simpatico to the international Socialist movement exemplifies the utter idiocy of Marxist "thought" which is nihilist - and the anthesis of beautiful things in nature. Now, UGLY art is "chick" and everywhere!
The banana and duct tape. A relative lives in NYC and told me once that most of the art galleries are just money laundering operations. Not sure if true but would not be surprised. 🙄
Just in case you ever need to know this, the Getty Museum in Los Angeles has actual art. Getty himself hated "modern art", and devoted himself to the classics. He's gone, but somehow the foundation that he left behind still follows his lead.
I know, that's one for the hard to believe file, but it's true, I've seen it myself. The Villa (Malibu) specializes in ancient Green and Roman works, while the big museum on the hill in Sepulveda Pass (the Center) covers just about everything.
The Huntington Library (south of Pasadena) also is remarkably devoid of modernist scams. Also has a lot more to do than just look at paintings.
Wow! this week went by in the blink of an eye. Hard to believe it’s Sunday again and Labor Day is next week. This is why we all should enjoy this DAY!
At my job I’ve learned to always start at step one and systematically go step by step through to the end of a project. I’ve found when steps are skipped the job will take more time leading to more headaches and greater costs.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could control our life in the same way. Life tends to just happen. We all face times when things don’t go as planned, things can get out of our control. God doesn’t do things the way we do. We try to understand, why did this person leave me, we prayed for a loved one, but they didn’t get better, we ask how could my family do this to me or why didn’t I get that job I was counting on? Sometimes no matter how much we pray, no matter how hard we try, things don’t go the way we plan. The best thing we can do is release it, let it go.
If we constantly dwell on it, wondering why this didn’t work out, why my loved one didn’t get healed, why didn’t I get that job, it will lead us to resentment, bitterness self pity. Before long we’ll be blaming others or blaming ourself maybe even blaming God. It may not be understandable, it may be unfair, but when you release it, it’s an act of your faith. Your saying God I trust you, your in control, even though it didn’t work out the way I wanted, you said all things are going to work for my good. I believe you still have something good for my future. God I’ll let you take me where you want me to go. What a free way to live. There’s power in letting go.
When I look back, I remember times, for months on end, having sleepless nights worrying. I didn’t know I could let these worries go. I’ve grown to learn this great power of handing my worries to God.
This doesn’t necessarily mean to let go of our dreams or our promises, it means let go of the disappointment when things didn’t turn out the way we planned. One of the best things we can do is to let go of the frustration. There is power in this. It’s OK to take time to reflect on things but we should never let a season of mourning turn into years of mourning, or a lifetime.
So often we’ll trust God, we’ll stay in faith, as long as God does it our way. Many times God does things his way. He does things in his order not necessarily the order we understand.
I heard a story about a hiker that climbed mountains. One day he just about got to the top of a cliff and he lost his footing. He began sliding down the side of the mountain. He slid over the edge of a cliff and at the last moment he reached out and miraculously grabbed a bush that was growing out of the rocks. Dangling at the top of a cliff hundreds of feet in the air, he yelled out “is anybody up there”? A booming voice came from the heavens and said “Yes I’m Here What Do You Need”? He said “God I can’t hold on any longer please God rescue me”. God said “Ok son turn loose of the bush and I’ll catch you”. After a long pause the man said “is anyone else up there”!! 🙄
Many times this is the way we do things. We say God help me but do it my way. In order for God to give us beauty for our ashes, we have to be willing to let go of the ashes. Sometimes we have to be mature enough and put that dream on the alter. We say God this is what I want this is what I’m praying for, but I trust you, my life is in your hands.
Some things God doesn’t want us to know or understand. The scripture says “Now we know in part, but one day we will know in full”. There are a lot of things today we don’t understand but I’m convinced one day they will make sense. One day we will see that the hand of God was working in our life. Someday we will see God took the injustice and brought good out of it. He took the betrayal and opened up a greater door. Try trusting him. Let go of the frustration the disappointments. Keep your faith. Happy Sunday J.Goodrich
Amen! Thank you James..! I believe God let me know it’s time to connect with my Brother, as it has been 10 years since we have communicated with one another. My Brother is 6 years younger than me, & he just turned 68 this past week. I had decided to send him a birthday card 3 weeks ago, but didn’t get around to it until last Sunday. I always looked up to my younger brother, & we did have great times together as kids, but over the years our lives changed drastically. But, I believe God was sending me His message to follow through, send the birthday card, & see if that will help mend our past situation to a more positive path for reconciliation! Enjoy your Sunday as well, James. Already Labor Day approaching, & yes- “time flies when we are having fun”! Thank you.
I really like this comment, James. I think that showing yourself compassion also sits in this idea, as it is only through doing this that you keep yourself out of "fight or flight" and in a place to learn from your errors meaning that God can bring you to your new lessons. If you keep berating yourself for being"wrong" without ever learning, you materially impede the Lord from bringing the lessons of your existence. Which in many ways repeats your suffering. Learning and building faith sort of go hand in hand, I feel.
Anyway, I always like to think of Jonah and the Whale in this. The perfect example of an extreme intervention to teach someone to place their faith in God. When I first heard of this idea of handing it to God, I wasn't really ready, but as I have aged, (it was almost 20 years ago), I have come to understand that this is one of the best things that you can do. Don't stop working for your outcome, but do accept when the Lord has other plans for you, or when the plans you are working towards don't come to fruition. If you take berating yourself (or blaming others or God out of the equation), you start to get a feel for the plan. And it was never to not suffer, but to grow through your suffering.
Wonderful comment, James! (I look forward to your comments.)I learned to give my worries to God during my daughter's lengthy illness in high school. It is freeing to trust God! It is a practice though.
Years ago I was complaining to a nun I greatly respected about suffering. And the universal set up of practically every living thing murdering and eating everyone else (physically and figuratively). And she said something I wasn’t expecting. She said that when I got where I was going I could ask God Himself that question and He would explain. And, she added, I would agree that His explanation was both perfect and satisfying. I’ve never forgotten that.
That is a perfect answer to a great question Barbara! Why do these things happen? When my father died I was young and I still had my mother. 6 years later she got sick and even though I prayed to let her have more years she left and I felt alone. It took a long time to let it go. I figured out quickly she wasn’t going to come to me. I’ve figured out though someday I will go to her.
Thank you James. I’m 66 and still letting go. I’ll admit trust has become a huge issue in my life, but thankfully God has shown me that I can trust him. Every day I see things that remind me that HE is in charge and I’m so grateful. Have a great week!
Loved the one with the cowboy which said: OCD: Old, Cranky and Dangerous...it really made me laugh. Once upon a time, I was very complacent and said little...Today at 91, I say what I feel and think
Oh, gosh, Barbara! I'm 75 and have almost no filters left! And I don't care!!! If I haven't learned in 75 years that what comes out of my mouth might be important, I'd have shut up long ago!!
Zech. 12:9 says that, “IN THAT DAY (Which day? The Lord’s Day), it shall come to pass that I will seek to destroy ALL NATIONS that come against Jerusalem.”
He also declares many times in the bible that Jerusalem is the very apple
of His eye. What lengths do we go to, to spare our eyes?
He declares repeatedly that whoever has the back of Jerusalem and Israel, the whole enchilada that HE created and HE gave them, has His support.
Idk about you and so many others once again backing anything BUT Israel, but I seek to have GOD have MY back, rather than risk His wrath. No way am I backing Hamas nor Palestine. God acknowledges that Israel is wayward and He even divorced her at one point. He took her back as His beloved— and I for one believe He means what He says.
Every single time any leader tries to carve out a piece of what GOD set aside for Israel, some calamitous thing befalls their country.
Read EYE to EYE, Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel by William Koenig.
Conflating Biblical Israel with modern-day Israel is no justification for genocide. As for Biblical quotations, Caitlin Johnstone made these observations:
God clearly and explicitly commands Christians to support the modern state of Israel. It’s right here in the Holy Bible; give me a moment and I’ll find the verse for you.
Aha! Got it. Exodus 20:13, “You shall not murder.”
Wait, hold on, that’s not it.
Here it is, Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers.”
Hang on, shoot, that’s not the one. What I meant to say is Lamentations 2:19, “Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.”
Ah, wrong one, lemme thumb through this a bit more. Got it! Proverbs 24:11, “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.”
Wait, sorry, no, it’s Psalm 101:7, “No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes.”
Oh no actually it’s Proverbs 6:16–19, “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.”
Oops, no, it’s definitely not that one. Actually it’s Deuteronomy 27:25, “Cursed be anyone who takes a bribe to shed innocent blood.”
No, dang it, that makes AIPAC recipients sound bad. Gimme a minute. Ah! Mark 12:31, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
No, wait, got it! Here it is, Romans 14:19, “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.”
Oh no, that isn’t the one I was looking for, it was Second Corinthians 13:11, “Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.”
Oh actually that one sounds kind of antisemitic in this context, gimme a sec.
Got it! Ephesians 4:3, “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
Hold on, that’s not it either. The one I meant to cite was Hebrews 12:14, “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.”
Oh boy, this really isn’t going well. Lemme see… oh! James 3:18, “Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”
Gosh darn it, I made a mistake. The verse I meant to point to was First Peter 3:11, “They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.”
Wait, no, it was Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Actually it was Luke 6:35–36, “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
Oops, no, nope. Man this is way harder than I thought it was going to be. Oh! Hey! Found it! It was right here in Genesis the whole time, chapter 12, verse 3: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
There! See? It’s right there in black and white. God’s saying we are commanded to support a modern state that we created in 1948, no matter what it does. The Bible is entirely clear and unequivocal about this, and says absolutely nothing to the contrary.
What part of this passage do you not understand? The “Palestinians” devise wicked things like October 7th, and shed innocent lives. Raping women, some accounts they were dead corpses, burning babies alive in ovens, decapitating people, burning them in their homes, killing and raping their children in front of their parents then killing them! This is purely demonic activity, and I find your use of scripture to support the “Palestinians” abhorrent. I have not seen that type of twisting of scripture in a long time. So please, how does Proverbs 6:16-19 support the “Palestinian” carnage against Israel, and condemns Israel’s right to protect themselves from such demonic behavior?
………..
“Oh no actually it’s Proverbs 6:16–19, “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.”
point me to the place where Genesis is “modern Israel”.
Also, all those are great verses but you left out hundreds that speak of vengeance, destruction of enemies, what will befall those nations who slice and dice Israel, and even battles wherein the Lord said,
“Destroy them all, lock, stock and barrel.” Like any “parent”, sometimes He means business.
Good job copying the link’s post. These are Bible verses alright, but nowhere does it say anything abt modern Israel v. Biblical times Israel.
There is absolutely nothing to argue that God is cool— with the land He gave them, being divided up, at all Because it’s divided up now, in modern times, doesn’t make it ok. Nowhere in the bible
does it even allude to anything like, “It’s all theirs for now, but if y’all get a hankering to change
that in “modern times”, feel free.” If it does, I’d love to see those references.
There’s nothing “Christian” in what he did. It was pure twisting of Scripture, and to show you the hypocrisy, what he suggested about Israel protecting herself, he and no one on this feed would ever allow the twisted application of those passages, if America was attacked the same way.
God has given each nation the right to protect itself, especially from the demonic activities and ideology of Hamas, drenched in Islam, who hate the Little Satan (Israel) and the big Satan (America).
Find the videos from “The son of Hamas” and see what they are about. Also, they are torturing the hostages physically and psychologically every day they are in captivity. May God never allow us to turn an eye to this evil, and call it a Christian thing to do—it is not Christ to allow evil to exist, when God gave the nations the sword to keep peace, in Romans 13.
When the “Palestinians” were given Gaza for peace in 2005, all the Jewish people left to include taking their dead relatives. The “Palestinians” hate the Jewish people so much, they destroyed the buildings they created for produce, which yielded millions of dollars per year and was exported to Europe. When the “Palestinians” realized what they did, they had the gall to ask the Jews for help in rebuilding it and knowledge on running it. That type of hate is self-destructive, then they voted in Hamas to rule over them—they received what they voted for.
Gaza is nothing more than a land dependent upon welfare. If the U.N. Snd other nations did not give them aid, they would have nothing—which is what they always had to this day.
Iran bankrolled them with weapons and tunnels instead of helping the people prosper economically—Hamas began sending suicide bombers into Israel, and rockets, killing civilians. Arab nations, to include Jordan, refuse to receive “Palestinians” into their countries, because they are trouble makers wherever they go—the only thing they produce is hate and death.
It is uncivilized to hold 50 remaining hostages, some are dead, and starve the ones who are alive. That is barbaric. They are incapable of self-governance, and Hamas must be totally destroyed, and that’s what is coming upon them.
I do not pity those who hate and kill Jewish people and vote in Hamas as their government. They were given multiple chances to change, but rejected it—then so be it.
I know, I know - you're busy on the farm, fighting Big Pharma, exposing evil, and traveling around the world...but, well, I'm going to have to insist that you continue gathering these comedy memes.
Helping us laugh while we fight all these demonic nutcases makes the battle a bit easier.
Humor & the great memes are absolutely the best, & laughter makes my day! I so appreciate how each one ties into our lives, & the “chaos I mentioned” above somewhere! Thank you!
LOL! Hmmm, Hunter Biden seems to come to my mind! I believe he still has his own vision that he is a true artist! But, as you mention, “after the drugs kick in”!
OMG! This excellent collection today really caused me to snort my coffee! Each one was better than the last! I will go on record as saying that this is my favorite posting of memes ever! Thank you, Drs Malone, for finding and posting these! AAAAh! We all need humor!
The evil that flows out of the Democratic Party is constant. They promote, celebrate, and export the killing of unborn children, they create unsafe cities, destroy local economies, and rewrite history and create “art” that a Psychologist cannot unravel. It’s evil incarnate.
I keep hearing Conservatives talk about how they are destroying their base and how they are strategizing on rebranding their evil party for the 2028 election. Ok, let them continue to destroy their base—the Democratic Party needs to go the way of the Dodo bird, but STOP giving them advice!
A political party with their ideology has rejected God and their minds have become reprobate, which means they cannot discern from right and wrong—and never will. They hate God and America, and their actions and policies prove it.
Our nation will not last another 250 years, if the slide into apostasy continues. That’s why I continually say, that America needs a Spiritual awakening that turns their hearts to God through Jesus Christ. If that happens, killing the unborn will be an historic relic, and promotion of LGBTQ+ will be considered sinful and counter to society.
The tail that wags, the dog is being clipped, and there are still some that believe that the majority should be controlled by the minority that has lost their way! Cracker Barrel CEO doesn’t understand who their customer base is. Sad.

My memory of that song was by Mary Travers. She had lots if military crying in their beers listening to her in nco/em clubs duing the Nam yrs.
I do believe he wrote it for Annie,(1966) and then Peter, Paul and Mary got a huge hit with it. Released in 1969, my long term memory is still with me!

Oops wife had me on the move and I goofed...meant the song Five Hundred Miles
i
Loved that one too.
Yes, Mary Travers- great song!
It's just a beautiful song.
Do not know where it wenr but your 1:14 pm post was great. Thanks

John Denver is a joy to recall. How I miss him singing
I saw him in person and he sang all our favorites like Rocky Mountain High Austin, TX . Will never forget it. So much better in person than on radio!!
The art was my personal favorite!

The banana and duct tape. A relative lives in NYC and told me once that most of the art galleries are just money laundering operations. Not sure if true but would not be surprised. 🙄
I don't believe it, although my Hunter Biden collection has declined a tad in value of late...
So, you have a Hunter Biden collection - just wondering if you would be interested in a really good deal on a bridge in Brooklyn. 😂
Verry interesting; do you take payments?
Bitcoin only
No prob; will just need to sell some artwork first.
Get back with me on that - some day

Just think about Hunter Biden's "art"!
No that would be the "Fractional Reserve Procedures" at FDI insured bank operations.
Well, if Hunter Biden was using them, we know it is a scam...
Another great compilation. I particularly liked "and then the artists with degrees arrived"
Safe travels!

J.G. "Let go and let God" is one of my favorite sayings, now to remember to do just that!
Did you have to mention the warp speed that Labor Day is approaching? Holy Moly, it was just Independence Day last week!
It must be true that as we age, life is like a roll of toilet paper, it goes faster at the end!
Also, thanks for the reminder of how worthless worrying is. What a colossal waste of time.
I don’t no but this past week went by in a flash! It felt like last Sunday was yesterday!! Maybe it was just me…
Amen! Thank you James..! I believe God let me know it’s time to connect with my Brother, as it has been 10 years since we have communicated with one another.
I know one day I will get the answers.
"First we overlook evil, then we permit evil, then we legalize evil, then we celebrate evil, then we persecute those who still call it evil."
I see this process in play in so many places, particularly with Israel's obliteration of Palestine.

Conflating Biblical Israel with modern-day Israel is no justification for genocide. As for Biblical quotations, Caitlin Johnstone made these observations:
https://www.caitlinjohnst.one/p/the-biblical-case-for-supporting
Gen. 12:3 is terrific. But pls,
point me to the place where Genesis is “modern Israel”.
Seek the definition and origin of Hamas.
Ned B., Brilliant! Thank you for corralling these foundational Christian teachings.
Caitlyn Johnstone and yes!
This just another implementation of the Progressive playbook
1. There's no such thing
2. There's such a thing, but it's rare
3. It's actually a good thing
4. We need more of the thing
5. The problem is people who are insufficiently enthusiastic about the thing.
Dear Dr. Malone,
I know, I know - you're busy on the farm, fighting Big Pharma, exposing evil, and traveling around the world...but, well, I'm going to have to insist that you continue gathering these comedy memes.
Helping us laugh while we fight all these demonic nutcases makes the battle a bit easier.
Sincerely, once again,
Your pal J
Humor & the great memes are absolutely the best, & laughter makes my day! I so appreciate how each one ties into our lives, & the “chaos I mentioned” above somewhere! Thank you!
When I read your comment I could just see the "cape and hero" colors.
If you still see left/right, blue/red, liberal/conservative...
...you have not been paying attention.
Could you please expound a bit on your comment? As a writer I'm genuinely curious about how you'd phrase it.
That spoof on Washington right in line with the woksters attack on our Founding.
Thank you for the laughs! Safe travels to Tampa and back!
Always enjoy the humor!
She'll need to call a good lawyer, and emergency services. Tish James has been bitten by the lawfare dog in the heinous.
"And the artists with the degrees arrived."
This also works:
"Every new artist seems a visionary genius after the drugs kick in."
They're definitely using better drugs then I have.
I'll have whatever he's been smoking, please.
Ha ha ha......
LOL! Hmmm, Hunter Biden seems to come to my mind! I believe he still has his own vision that he is a true artist! But, as you mention, “after the drugs kick in”!
OOF.
OMG! This excellent collection today really caused me to snort my coffee! Each one was better than the last! I will go on record as saying that this is my favorite posting of memes ever! Thank you, Drs Malone, for finding and posting these! AAAAh! We all need humor!

You are so right!! Love these posts every Friday and Sunday!
You got it. I'm pro-life, as well. Dr. Frank Pavone is on X. Priests for Life.
The tail that wags, the dog is being clipped, and there are still some that believe that the majority should be controlled by the minority that has lost their way! Cracker Barrel CEO doesn’t understand who their customer base is. Sad.
