My wife's dad and my mom's older brother both WW II combat vets. The Red Cross charged our combat troops for the coffee and (donated) cigarettes they handed out that the Salvation Army gave out for free.
Salvation Army is good. As well as St Jude's and Shriners without a Accounts payable Department. St. Vincent DePaul and the Major Food Pantries. Twenty Five years ago or so they did a special on the American Red Cross where the Regional manger in LA was being paid almost 500,000! All the rest below that person were volunteers.
American Red Cross sat on technology for 4 years that eliminated HIV from donated blood most of which was coming from the dope addicts in the major cities. Fueled the spread of AIDS patients including my next door neighbor who was the Medical Director of a hospital, was in a serious accident and Bob died of Aids. They probably gave him Fauci's AZT to speed him along. All sweep under the rug.
My father, a cop, experienced the same thing. There was a plane crash in the city at night. Red Cross was there with bevs and food, which they charged for and Salvation Army was there also with FREE everything. Since then, I have not given to Red Cross in many decades. Salaries of the top execs will also give you a hint on who is bleeding the charity and who is not. Charity Watch is NOT the best place to get info, but it helps some. They still have SPLC on the good list! I just got my current booklet. Ha ha ha!

We've seen this movie many times. An organization is formed, often after some tragedy, to combat some situations. After a while, they grow, their board expands, the need for more money becomes the main objective, and they loose their original course.

The medical industrial complex uses them for tax breaks in communities that not only need the tax base but allows them to skirt laws that no for profit enterprise can get away with. When I personally look to give to a charity the first thing I check is how much of my donation goes to management. If it isn’t higher than 90-95% you aren’t getting my money. Many medical “non-profits” are actually monopolies within a region. It’s a disgusting situation and needs a serious looking at. Real charity does good. It doesn’t scam.
